| Quote Leyther_Matt="Leyther_Matt"I can't believe I'm continuing to bite, but aside from supporting Hibs, I support Leigh RMI (and by support, I mean attend 95% of games regardless of times and distance), run their website, write match reports and news articles for four separate publications, spend god knows how many hours a month attending meetings and the like and, guess what? I live 0.3 miles from the ground. So I don't think I can be criticised for failing to support my local team, somehow.'"
You said "A simple solution for Wigan-based (or elsewhere) Utd fans would of course be to support your local team, but I suppose that makes too much sense "
I'll leave it at that.

I still can't believe we have won the title this year, after how poor we have been for the majority of it. Just think how important some of the goels that have gone in at the end of games have been.
Still, at least we can always rely on the huns bein $hite.

Well deserved the late one at Parkhead against Rangers was the killer.

And I stand by that. I can understand people not supporting their local non-league side (not everyone is as daft as us!) but there's no way on earth that the number of people walking round Wigan in Man Utd shirts this evening are all match-attending Reds - these are the ones who I have a problem with, jumping on the glory bandwagon when they have a professional side in their own town to support.
Hibs is a childhood thing, I do support my local non-league team and my nearest professional team so I don't think I've anything to hide here.

| "And they gave us James McGrory and Paul McStay and the Billy bigots threw twelve big points away".
"Bouncey, bouncey, bouncey, bouncey, ha haha ha haha!"
To top it off, I left it to the end of the game before leaving O'Sheas, because a) I just couldn't leave and b) because I had a fancy that who I was going watching, would be doing the same.
Lo and behold Amy Macdonald comes on stage and apologises if she is off form because she is sulking about her beloved Rangers throwing away the title.
No problem Amy. No problem.

| To be fair to rangers they were shafted by the Scottish fa. having to play all those games in a week.
I thinkt it cost them the uefa cup and also the championship.
Still you could say it couldnt have happened to a more nasty bunch of fans

The price of success - they couldn't have extended the season any longer.

| As Ricky Tomlinson would say, "Quadruple my a**e"
Still, two tin pots and a UEFA charge - that's a good season by their recent standards I suppose...

Wigan had to do it in the 90's, came through it fine. Rangers just play boring football and deserved what they got in the end.

Utter utter ball cocks. Do you actually have a clue what you are talking about?
They were not bothered about fixture pile-ups when they pointlessly cancelled a game v Gretna so that they could prepare for their Champions League match v Lyon (where they got horsed). The extra fixture they faced due to their inability to beat the mighty Partick Thistle in the cup (AT HOME!).
The league should never have been extended and to blame the SFA is a complete joke.

Indeed.
The extension was something they should never have got in the first place. The SFA actually bent over backwards to help them.
They cancelled the Gretna game needlessly as you say, they drew cup games, they refused to fit those delayed games at times that didn't suit them, then they expected everyone to happily tag two weeks on the end of the season just to suit them. The pile up was at least partly due to their own choice.
At the end of the day though, the UEFA Cup run has probably cost them the title. All that fuss about their great day out and it's cost them both the league and their reputation!
It really couldn't have worked any better if I'd scripted it myself.
Wel, it could, defeat by Queen of the South tomorrow!
