| Sadly the geordies probably will manage to escape relegation. The bigger sides usually do manage to scrape themselves out of the trouble eventually. Who's the last big sides to go down? Obviously Leeds United and Citeh have been down in recent times, who else?

Ten of us at work have done it today and all ended up with Manchester united as champions (even the two Liverpool fans) with Newcastle one of the teams heading for the drop, our token city fan has us winning it by 12 points.
All very good, but, if you did it last week, how many of you would have predicted Fulham beating Man U? I bet that would have been none.
Just shows what predictions are worth.

Agree with that totally. As well as the basic unpredictability of the league games coming up, the Champions League and FA Cup semis could also play a part in how the season develops.

true - suspensions, injury, the red card and penalty free for all at anfield, bottle, lack of bottle, luck and other distractions will all have a bearing
I tried to do it sensibly, but had United winning by 11 points, I can't see that in my wildest dreams, will try it again in the morning.,,,,

| United win on 88, Liverpool 86, Chelsea 83, Arsenal 71. Blackburn, Boro, Pompey, Bolton and Newcastle all finish on 37, the last 3 staying up on superior goal difference

| Just been listening to an interveiw with Dave Whealen on BBC GMR and he was talking about the links with Steve Bruce and the Newcastle job. He was saying that he'd spoke to Bruce and both had agreed that he wouldn't be interested but then said something along the lines of "Steve will only be leaving Wigan for one reason and that is when Alex Ferguson retires and he's got my full backing when that time comes" to me it sounded like he's already been lined up to replace SAF when he decides to move upstairs. What would people think of him becoming the new manager at O/T? I've always been a fan of his and like his attitude but would he beable to handle the top job at the biggest club in the world?

Real Madrid are moving to Old Trafford?

There's only two reasons Bruce is being linked with the Man United job:
1. He's an ex-United player
2. Dave Whelan likes to suck Man United ****
Bruce hasn't done enough to deserve a top job. He's done enough to manage a Newcastle type club but only that. I can understand why he wouldn't take the Newcastle job because that club is a career killer, but I don't think he'll get a top job unless he does a good job at a much bigger club than Wigan.

As things stand I'd say the possibility of an English manager getting the job at Man United, or any top club, is miniscule.

Tell me what Bruce has done in his career that is worthy of him being linked with the United job. He's done a pretty good job at Wigan, but nothing more than that.
Alex Ferguson deserved a chance at Man United because of what he did at Aberdeen. Ron Atkinson deserved the Man United job because of what he was doing with West Brom. Steve Bruce hasn't done anything close to what they did, but he did play for United, and for some strange reason Man United fans pine desperately for a manager who used to play for them.
Steve Bruce might well be the top English manager, but that says more about the poor quality of English managers than it says about Bruce's ability. If Steve Bruce is the best manager England has to offer, then Man United will be appointing a non-English manager when Ferguson retires.
