He's finished I think, just can't get fit. I actually think he could have been a decent international footballer, certainly could've left West Ham for a bigger club. He had something about him, decent in the air, really good technique etc, strong, he was like an English Berbatov, slow but clever, could see the game etc . I feel sorry for him really.
I thought Matt Derbyshire was going to be a quality striker, a poacher like Lineker, that sort, now he's at Olympiakos isn't he ? Is he getting a game for them ?

| Quote: WANDERER "No mate, I'm the one in the minority but then I pretty much expected it that way.
Any thoughts on two others players from the same Club, Gary Cahill and Matt Taylors prospects of representing the three lions?'"
I'd imagine Cahill has a better shot than Taylor from the (admittedly) limited times I've seen them both play - whilst we're on a Bolton 'tip' I thought Nolan should have been given a better chance than he has had, especially considering the number of caps Nicky Butt has got over the years. Now he's at a worse club at Newcastle I suppose he's got to get less of a chance.

I heard in October that he was injured again and this time it could end his career. Real shame because he is very talented.

My thoughts exactly.
Ireland has had a fantastic season.

He has. I think people (harshly) are probably still judging him by:-
- the incidents with his grandparents
- those underpants
- that pink car
- that ridiculous wig

*(Although by the 'If the Neville's can play for England so can I' logic I must be due a call up soon)'"
I agree with you As a Rovers fan I saw us pay £7.5 million for him and got 2 goals from him in about 30 games. He's ok if you want someone to hold the ball up but other than that he's nowhere near an international class forward.

I agree. He seems to have played a lot better since he got rid of the wig.

4 or 5 years ago I'd have said that an England call-up was just around the corner for Nolan but to be fair in the past two and a half seasons his form had been nothing better than average and the move was probably the best for both parties.

To be honest, he's had a pretty decent season this season - I for one have been very impressed.

So the top two are Crouch and Davies. Good God! That says it all about English football(ers).

He's like a Samson in reverse.
Given a choice between Ireland and Robinho....Ireland every time. His progression has been the highlight of the season for me.
People on here may mock my views of the likes of Palacios but my opinion has always been that I don't rate midfielders who can't pass (I.E open up a defence), defend and score goals. Others are just cloggers. That's why I rate city players like johnson and Ireland so highly, and don't rate some others.

| Quote: getdownmonkeyman "You are in no position to call anyone deluded.'"
I am many things, whether I am the internet alias 'Enfield Exile' or just my normal self. Being deluded is not one of them. I'm far too pessimistic and critical of City to be regarded as 'deluded'.
Quote: getdownmonkeyman "EE and his Mrs are having the Ireland V Modric debate at home too.'"
She's not over-enamoured with Modric at all. She thinks Ireland is a top player.
She also dislikes Harry Redknapp with a passion. A view shared by a quite a few Spurs fans that I know.
We don't disagree about alot when it comes to football apart from who our baby should support and the ability of Robbie Keane.
Quote: getdownmonkeyman "There's more chance of Robinho having a good game away from home than EE admiting his opinion isn't always the correct one.'"
RE Robinho:
RE opinions: Why would I give an opinion and then say I was wrong a few minutes later? Anyways, I think I have a better knowledge of the ability of Spurs players than Stirlingshire Saint.

| rlDavid Silva to Liverpool?rl Yes please!
Seems like they're getting the rumours in early, a top player but I'm not sure how he'd do as a consistent wide player.
