He isn't good enough. Yes, that's my opinion. You often see those bandied about on internet message forums and I don't see the point in tagging 'IMO' at the end of each post to make that explicit.

However it would appear that my opinion is shared by the numerous England managers who choose not to select Davies for England and select numerous players in front of him. Maybe if there's some sort of flu epidemic he'll get a chance.

I accept that friendlies are about either trying players out or developing systems, tactics, that sort of stuff. However there's no point trying out players just for the sake of it if they're blatantly not good enough. Like Kevin Davies. He's a decent pro and I quite like him as a player - but if he's international class we really should pack in now.

We'll have to agree to disagree about his ability.

With respect, there are people who have and do pull on England shirts who are clearly not international class, but rather than pack it in perhaps we should try something different.

I agree. But just because we've selected players who aren't good enough in the past doesn't mean we should compound it by doing it again. If someone was going to take a punt on Davies they should have done it years ago.

Not sure who you would leave out of the current squad for Davies. The 4 that are in there are much better players.*
