Wonderfully reasoned argument there.
The current England manager is picking Heskey - Davies is on current form the much better player and (despite being used out wide on occasions) is outscoring Heskey.

Davies isn't good enough to play for England.
The fact Davies may be in better form than Heskey at the moment is irrelevant. Heskey, for all of his faults, is an experienced international. To pick Davies now, a novice in relative terms, would be madness.
So, to sum up I wouldn't pick Davies for England because:-
a) He isn't good enough;
b) He has no experience
Good enough?

| Ireland could well end up being Man Citys Frank Lampard. When the investment arrived at Chelsea, he was an established Premierhsip player sure, but Chelsea fans were still struggling to understand the £11m tag etc. Under Ranieri and Mourinho he & JT became one of the most important people to Chelsea, and whilst plenty of other 'stars' came & went, they became the consistency, that everything was built around, and Lampards game improved, and he became a 20 goal man etc, I know folk don't rate him, but for Chelsea, for the last 5 years he's been immense.
Ireland has all the ingrediants to be a top player, if City become a top four club, he's one of the few they have capable of improving with them so to speak, and taking his game on. When I've seen him at times this year, he's been excellent.
Oh, and he needs to end his ROI exile.

Not really.
a) Matter of opinion. Even your own comments don't support that.
b) So we pick experience over form. We have friendlies, what the hell are they for?

There's more chance of Robinho having a good game away from home than EE admiting his opinion isn't always the correct one.

He reminds me of that Irish pundit, I can't remember his name but he always says 'a nothing player'.

You asked what he had to do to get an England call up. I said become a much better player. You hinted that I should explain. So I did.
He isn't good enough. Yes, that's my opinion. You often see those bandied about on internet message forums and I don't see the point in tagging 'IMO' at the end of each post to make that explicit.
However it would appear that my opinion is shared by the numerous England managers who choose not to select Davies for England and select numerous players in front of him. Maybe if there's some sort of flu epidemic he'll get a chance.
I accept that friendlies are about either trying players out or developing systems, tactics, that sort of stuff. However there's no point trying out players just for the sake of it if they're blatantly not good enough. Like Kevin Davies. He's a decent pro and I quite like him as a player - but if he's international class we really should pack in now.

We'll have to agree to disagree about his ability.

You refer to numerous managers who choose not to select him but I referenced his [icurrent [/iform which would indicate that I am talking about the [icurrent [/imanager not selecting him.

With respect, there are people who have and do pull on England shirts who are clearly not international class, but rather than pack it in perhaps we should try something different.
