Salford City Reds are the National League Champions again and nobody will ever win a Grand Final more dramatically than this. Division One champions, Grand Final winners, winners of the Northern Rail Cup; everything their hearts desired. Down and out? Not a bit of it, they are never out. Memories are made of this forever and a day, Salford fans will ask "where did you watch the 2008 Grand Final? Where did you see John Wilshere save the day with the last kick of the ball?":d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_10288.jpg |

I don't think it would be part of any lescott deal anyway. Even if both transfers went ahead I don't think Moyes would have Jo in it because he would want just money and more of it.

If he didn't want to come then there's only so much you can do...something which City are finding out with Kaka/Eto'o et al.
Just means we'll have to find another striker from somewhere else...I have some trust in Fergal finding the right man.

Signing strikers from overseas appears to be a bloody lottery, as City fans will testify. Look at Drogba. His pedigree was no better than Jo's. However, Drogba is world class and Jo is way off.
I would take a chance on Fabiano though. Rooney and Fabiano? Sounds good to me.

I think you're right. Jo is going to Everton on a season-long loan. Maybe that is part of the 'Lescott deal'.
I watched Benzema recently and he was poor. TBH I am not so sure how he would get on in the Prem. After all, he has been playing in a league that is pony.
Quote: OrdsallRed "Gary Tablet left just a couple of weeks ago. Ever since Rafa has signed his new contract, quite a few changes have gone on at the academy/Melwood.'"
From the outside looking in, he never appears to be happy with what's going on below first team level. Didn't he get rid of the Academy Director a couple of years (David Fairclough)?

It seems like Jo is on his way here, he did well enough last season on loan and i'm sure he can do it again, 5 goals in 11, not a bad return. Just hope this doens't see Lescott move in the other direction.

| Quote: Sthelens RLFC "It still has the potential to be a disastrous off season for us. I'd take not signing another player and sticking with what we have tbh as the alternatives of losing Masch and/or Alonso will undo the work Rafa has been doing moulding the team. In an ideal world we will lose Leto (signed and sealed, roughly £3m) Dossena (£5. No not, £5m, £5.) and Babel (£7m) and buy Silva as Rafa has already said we have money to buy a player without having to sell.'"
Defo one will go could even be both but Rafa did say after the Johnson signing we could sign one more player without selling anyone.

Agree 100% especially if you're not signing the proper top players ie Eto'o, Torres, David Bellion

I think he's getting on a bit now isn't he?? 29-30ish I think...good player though.

I'm with you as well on Benzema mate...I've seen nothing to tell me he's going to be a superstar...one decent goal against Nited the other year but nowt in the return leg when it was more needed...he does have youth on his side though.
From what little I saw of the under-21s the other week that Swedish fella Berg looked an excellent finisher, whether he's a decent enough player or not is another matter.
Best finisher in the world is David Villa...maybe the fact that Eto'o probably will be staying at Barca and Madrid signing Benzema may lead to Nited making a big bid??

| Jo is only 22. Expecting a Drogba-like return from him when he's in a massively inferior side is asking for disappointment.
Drogba took a season to come good at Chelsea and has suffered lows in his form as well.

Sometimes it's about the player adapting. Look at Forlan, looked a donkey at United (don't bring it up), yet has gone on to win two golden boots, is it? Or is it two pichichi's?
I like Benzema but I was unsure as to what way he'd go. He reminds me very much of Anelka, strong, quick, two top feet and sharp in front of goal, but even Anelka I've never considered in the highest bracket of strikers. Despite him probably outperforming Drog over the course of the season, I doubt there are too many Chelsea fans who'll say Anelka's better, Drog seems to have that 'X factor' that top strikers have.
Wonder if Madrid will sign another forward now, if they sign Villa as well, I wouldn't mind Higuain at Liverpool to back up Torres.
