| Quote: airliebird9 "In fairness England have not only won the Pakistan series and Bangladesh home and away series. They also drew in South Africa, won the last Ashes and beat West Indies home and away too in the 4 series before that.
That is winning 6 of the last 7 test series and drawing the other, against 5 different opposition!!
Credit where credit is due
My apologies, they lost the series in West Indies 1 v 0
They have lost 5 of ther last 14 series against all test playing nations since the last time the Ashes were in Australia.
3 of those where on foreign soil. Only India and South Africa winning in England.

“We will not accept a top eight finish as a barometer of supposed success at any point in the future whilst I am the owner of this club.
Thats why you got the Bullet Agar...Adam Pearson wants winners...not useless gits like you.

| Cook gets a welcome ton and Strauss hits his 2nd ton of the tour.

Australia Test squad
Batting and bowling....If England are as prepared as we hope and Swanny bowls to his recent standard, then surely the Ashes are being retained??....If we can't do that Aussie squad, then I doubt we will ever get another victory on their patch....

| Another good start to the final pre-series match in Hobart. Australia 'A' bowled out for 230 by our second string bowling attack. Khawaja & Ferguson, the two young batsmen in the Aussies Ashes squad, both out cheaply, as was Philip Hughes following some short stuff from Tremlett. Even Panesar held a "spectacular catch" according to the BBC report! England 22/1 at close of play with Strauss out for 10.

Excellent job done by the back up bowlers, prized out a few potential test players cheaply too. Tremlett, Bresnan and Shazhad all seemed to cause the Aussies problems.

It was indeed a cracking catch from Monty Rhodes!
Excellent opening bowling spell from Shahzad too...pace, aggression, a bit of swing at times...he looks the most likely to step up to me if anything should happen to the first string seamers.
And Strauss gone cheaply again...if that were Cook people would be going sick about it

Actually I don't like it. Aussie batsmen not scoring, England bowling well - I can see day one at tea now - Aus 212-1

Team for the first test is already picked IMO, but always good to give the selectors a reminder. He's the sort of nagging, line and length bowler who can prosper when the shine goes off the new ball and the pitch flattens out a bit.

I agree, Finn is the player least certain of his place, should he not perform then Bresnan has put himself into contention.
