The Hawks get their first win of the season against the Coyotes who went in to the game unbeaten. Hawks took the game 4-1 on home ice.

The win didn't help Denis Savard as the Hawks fired him today and replaced him with Joel Quenneville.That's a strange decision at this stage in the season.

For me I think it may be a good move. Quenneville is a great coach and doesnt take any messing which I think was maybe part of Savards problem as he was too nice to the players. Even when he kicked off big style lastseason he then kind of back tracked.

The Hawks have started flat with no real intestity and poor goaltending cost them the first 2 games of the season. Suprised they did this now though after the Hawks best performance of the season.

Rocky Wirtz and the new regime TBF have invested heavily in the club allround and are obviously keen to see some results. Think Scotty Bowman will have had I imagine a valued input into the firing on Savvy and appointment of Quennville with what he had seen since he agreed to join the Hawks in the advisory role.

The other thing this will do is send a message to the whole organisation that if you don't perform your out.

Time will tell if the management will be proved right.

Bruins beat the Senators 4-2

Hawks blow a 3-1 lead against the Blues and go down 4-3 in the S/O. Quennville got his first win in as Hawks coach in the next game downing the Canucks 4-2.

For anybody who is missing their fix of Don Cherry every sat if you go on the CBC Sports website they have all of the Coaches corner,hotstove etc on their video section that you can watch.

Nice one, I'll have to pay that site a visit.

Really hope Setanta sort out their coverage and start showing HNIC again as viewing just isnt the same without a weekly fix of Grapes in Coaches Corner and those jackets brighten anybodies day.

Really thinking bout getting ESPN360 and cancelling Setanta if they don't sort out their coverage.

Great win for the Hawks on home ice against the Oilers taking the game comfortably 3-0, Khabibulin getting the shut out, hopefully his form will be great this season in a bid to get a good deal elsewhere next season.

Looks like Quenneville may be able to get more out the Hawks than Savard with a tougher regime.

Bruins beat the Thrashers 5-4 with Milan Lucic getting a hat-trick

Chicago lost to one of our bogey teams last night 3-2 against the Wild and we've got another bogey team Dallas coming up on friday.

Good win for the leafs last night against the devils, 6-5 in OT. It's only early in the season, but Ron Wilson seems to have the team playing with a lot more heart and determination than they have done for several seasons.

Maybe the season won't be a total washout after all.

Excellent. Was listening to the game up to the early part of the 2nd when I went to bed, and they were 2-0 down.

Watched that game. Half of the Hawks team don't look old enough to shave!

Super win for the leafs last night against the rangers. 2-0 down mid way through the 3rd period and the leafs scored 5 un-answered goals in just over 5 mins to win the game.

The best thing of all is that the rain woke me up and I could not get back to sleep so I put the game on about 20 seconds before the first leafs goal, happy dreams after that
