| Pearl Swan in the 4yo... Already beaten Gremeti giving weight, hurdle course at Aintree favours held up horses. Also French bred, British bred have a poor record.
Carruthers in the bowl. Nice record 2nd time out after a break, acts on the course, will love the softened ground, and blinkers and tongue tie suggest he will front run. Will fc with What a Friend.
Peptite Rose in the Manifesto. Gets a useful 7lb from Al Ferof, could prove useful against a hold up horse in soft ground.

| This week's Challenge Cup handicap, I'll go for:
Featherstone v Cas (Fev plus 20)
Hull KR v Catalans (Hull KR plus EIGHT)
Keighley v Warrington (Warrington -40)
Bradford v Doncaster (Doncaster plus 4icon_cool.gif
I think Doncaster's the best mind, with Cooke and a handful of other decent players in their ranks and with the news of Sammut's injury, it'll be a Bradford win but I don't think a hammering.

A bit long in the tooth I fear though hopefully old stagers like him and Mon Mome and Hello Bud get round. Ladbrokes going 12/1 the field shows it is wide wide open and yeasterdays race over the course saw alot of finishers so it makes for a good race and I have had a few quid on a Ruby Walsh win (and how much on a fairytale would Seabass and On His Own going head to head up the run in be????)
Anyway the Grand National is small beer the real betting heat of the year starts in two weeks with the Greyhound Derby and I can not wait

I think alot of people really think Fev have a chance of knocking out Cas and you can get 7/1 on it and +20 on the handicap. I think there could be alot of people thinking if only I had been brave enough top back the upset tonight but then again Cas win and they could be on their way with another cup run.
Should be a cracker.

| Back from my weekend away and what a belting time it was.
Made a good profit each day.
Got chatting to some guys in the pub next to the course before racing started, and turned out the guy was Grumeti's owners racing manager who gave us a rather nice word on the horse and said he was very confident, so backed that for the second after lumping on the brilliant Big Buck's in the first. Had Burton Port e/w so got my stake back in the third, then the rest done nothing - Offshore Account e/w, Kumbeshwar e/w, Al Ferof and Veiled e/w. Al Ferof was the biggest disappointment. Still, made a nice profit for the day and the girlfriend managed to pick out Follow The Plan e/w, Echo Bob e/w, Cristal Bonus e/w and Ringaroses e/w which got her a decent profit, with her approach of picking two or three e/w for each race. Seen Willie Mullins after racing had finished and got a photo done with him, really nice bloke.
Friday and Saturday on the sofa were better though.
Had Prospect Wells e/w in the first on Friday and got my stake back with him placing, the backed Silviniaco Conti and Finian's Rainbow to get the profit rolling. Had small losses on Gone Beyond Recall (e/w) and Fingal Bay, and that was my lot.
Saturday was a great day. Rolled what I had won on Friday onto Simonsig, then deposited a wheelbarrow load to go on Sprinter Sacre. Had Oscar Whisky in the third - what a thriller that was. My four National picks were Neptune Collonges , Cappa Blue, Shakalakaboomboom and Always Right, all e/w, but was kicking myself a bit as I originally made 5 selections, other was Sunnyhillboy , I texted the 5 selections to my mates so a fair few of them ended up with three placed horses and a nice profit. Was just pleased to see Neptune get home safe, been a horse I've liked for a good few years and was nice to see him have one more day in the sun. Shame about the two horses that never made it back, but I'm not getting involved in that debate. Only loser I had on Saturday was a jovial quid on On Borrowed Wings.
Also backed Famous Name today at 6/4.
Very nearly done as well as Cheltenham week

| Just received the following email off Paddy's.
[iGrand National Day - Technical Issues
Dear Andrew,
Having offered 5 Places on the Grand National, we experienced the busiest day in our history with unprecedented numbers of customers placing their National bet with Paddy Power. Unfortunately, in the run up to the race, we experienced some technical issues which meant that many of our customers were unable to access our site.
We pride ourselves on providing excellent service and a stable website, and we apologise if we have disappointed you. After a very busy Cheltenham we were very confident that we were well prepared to handle Grand National Saturday, which is always the busiest day of the year for us. While most of our customers were able to get their bet on the race some were unsuccessful and this is not the level of service that we strive to deliver.
To show you that we mean business, we have given you a FREE BET. There's no catch, no T&Cs - you just have to use it by the end of April. Log into your account at
Wasn't even trying to use their site for my National bets, I used Victors, and got my bet on for an earlier race with no hassle - cheers Paddy. Twenty quid - think I'll keep it for Punchestown.
