Akeed Mofeed is interesting. Hacked up on his second last start on good ground, before suffering an odds on defeat the next time on bottomless ground. Must be rated at home as they gave him to John Oxx and not Mick Channon .

As for the 1000, I really like Discourse. A prep run would've been an advantage but by the sound of it she's heading straight there. Won her last start in really taking fashion.

Too early for Guineas talk, what I saw of last year's 2yos, except Camelot, they don't look upto much.

Had a look at monday's handicaps, and had to get the kleenex out when I saw that Warrington were giving the start over Catalans.
+8 and 2/1 off scratch in my book.

Apparently the Hannon horse in the first at Kempton is one of his most forward 2yo's and should win, however I won't be backing an odds-on, un-raced 2yo.

Just backed Flemenstar. If he jumps like he has the past few times then he should be home and dry. Think he'll be clear as they turn for home, only to see Call The Police coming strong on the bridle without producing much extra.

Think 11/10 is value on Flemenstar as he'd be odds in if trained by Mullins, Nicholls, Henderson, Meade or any of the other leading names.

Needed Flemenstar after Wednesday, got my losses back! Far too good for them - this certainly is one with a big future. Forget he's from a small yard, he is gonna be a hell of a horse in open company next season.

High class as a novice and been steadily progressing this term, and this step back up in trip looks set to suit. 7/4 a decent price. Get Me Out of Here will be a danger but is a bit of a bridesmaid, won't go down without a fight though as he has some decent form in him, just don't think he's much value at 15/8 - 7/4.

Tempted to double with Zomerlust, who is a mile clear on figures, but not sure if 10 year old's in sellers are the most reliable! He's obviously on the down, but should still have enough to win this - his nearest rival is rated 18lb less and effectively gives him 9lbs when the respective weight difference and claims are taken into account.

Oscar's Well was bloody awful, even conceding weight should've ran far better than that - disappointing to say the least. Very overrated horse, always thought he could win a race at g2 at open company, obviously not. No wonder chasing in the autumn is the plan.

Won it back on Zomerlust and an extra few quid.

One of those afternoons...

Lost a little bit on Steps To Freedom - was just a small, gut bet, nothing fancy. So decided to have a couple of quid on Balnaslow in the bumper - hype horse was favourite Teelin Star but didn't fancy it odds on in a flat race based on points form, looked like it needed a obstacle to jump too as he got a bit lazy at the end. Balnaslow was going much the best coming round the bend, but a Gigginstown horse came out of nowhere and they got into a right battle, with the Gigginstown horse prevailing by around a short head - thought great, typical luck. Stewards enquiry went on for ages and eventually the places reversed, bit of luck for once
