| I'm at Brentwood v Dulwich Hamlet in the FA Trophy tomorrow. My 168th away ground following the Hamlet. Early start off Liverpool Street and a few pints in some rural Essex pubs pre-match.

| First time I will have seen Solihull Moors when they visit Hilton Park tomorrow - we've had too many bad experiences of cup competitions in the past week!

| Turned out to be a good one, 2-0 Bootle Andy Fowler grabbing both goals. Overall confortable win, Emley never got going till second half but only troubled 'keeper once.
Nice win and onto round two.

| Soham through 2-1 comfortable winners in a game that could easily have hit double figures.

| Hamlet went out of the Trophy 0-1 at Brentwood. A poor game and a depressing experience. Brentwood resembled a county league set up with a tiny basic ground and little support, even though they've now won ten of their thirteen games this season.
We're away to Hornchurch in the FA Cup 3rd Qualifying Round next Saturday.

Admission was £7, + £1 for a pretty basic black & white programme. If you're driving it's right next to the A12, if you're going by train like I did it's a walk of almost two miles from the station up one of the few steep hills in Essex. Although there is the only Good Beer Guide pub (The Rising Sun) on route. The ground consists of a small main stand, a decent bit of covered terrace behins one goal, and nothing at all on the other two sides with just a post & rail fence around the pitch. They've lost just one game all season (in the League Cup, which no one takes seriously) although I was n't that impressed with them. Their left winger Joao Carlos looks tricky with the ball at his feet but falls over at the slightest hint of contact.

| I'm sorely tempted to go and watch Marine - just a short walk from where I live. Is it worth it? Is non-league football at that level any good? It can't be worse than the pap on dislay in the Premier league - can it?
They play in the Unibond League Premier Division

Give it a go. You can expect a crowd of 300 or so and admission will be £7 or £8 in that division. Think of it as being a bit below NL2 in terms of attendances and prices. I saw Prescot Cables v Matlock in the same division the day after Saints v Quins at the end of August and it was a decent afternoon's entertainment, the star of the show being an unbelieveable clueless referee (Mr I Noble of Bury) who managed to upset everyone equally on either side!

Marine play North Ferriby United on Saturday at 1pm due to clash with England game.
Cost of entry etc here - www.marinefc.com/club/matchday.php5
They play same level as King's Lynn who I've found well worth watching in recent seasons.

I watch football at a lower level than that and love it. It's good to watch but its only few quid to get in, close to you so if you don't enjoy it too much no harm done. I would defo reccomend going along mate.
Bootle have been drawn at home to Winterton Rangers in the Vase round 2, not sure what league they are in though.
