As I said a few weeks ago, when they were a few points clear of Arsenal, I was amazed that people were getting giddy at the prospect of Villa finishing 4th - up until recently they'd only used something like 17 players in the league all season and they were always going to dip once they got a few injuries and fixtures started to take their toll, because they don't have that much depth, whereas Arsenal had played plenty of the season minus a few key men, who are now starting to return.
Providing they don't totally collapse it could still turn out to be a decent effort from Villa this season but, like Liverpool (if they don't win the title), it will end up being portrayed as a failure by many because they had a good start.

only saw part of it at 1-0, villa were playing some reasonable stuff, the route one nature of the second (no dig intended) and the inability of villa to deal with it was reminiscent of last week. |
