| Think I'm just gonna leave the bumper horse as I've never had any luck with them. Glad I took a price last night on Zaidpour, won like the SP suggested.

| No probs. I actually had a second look when I got back in at three o'clock, but the price had tumbled so decided to leave it, due to it being a bumper. Least Zaidpour won, because if he'd got beat and I'd still swerved the bumper horse I'd currently be a bit annoyed.

| Right, time to crack on with the Boxing Day meetings. First up, the Felthem Novices Chase. Grand Crus is 6/4 fav... lay material. Ran 3 times right handed and lost all 3, twice at Taunton ( a similar course to Kempton). 2 big guns from Henderson ( decent record in race) and Nichol's Silvanio Conti who should be suited to stepping upto 3m. One that catches the eye is Teaforthree. 16s at Laddies, as low as 9s with Corals.
The King George is doing my head in Only alternatives to Long Run seems to be Diamond Harry, but the course would be a doubt to me, and Somersby who looks place betting material.

| Wouldn't read too literally into Grand Crus' 3 other runs at right handed tracks.
The run at Hereford was in a bumper anyways so no obstacles jumped.
The first run at Taunton was his hurdling debut and he was beaten by Wishful Thinking who had the benefit of winning his debut hurdle race, GC finished 20L clear of 3rd.
Second time he was beaten by the well-backed Sanctuare, while not a Gr1 horse certainly no mug. Was 10L clear of 3rd.
He is a horse that has dramatically improved over the past 18 months, so to lay him due to the fact he was going right handed would be reckless.

| The following horses are not tips, just a product of a system I've been trying out lately (to various degrees of success), including a 16/1 winner at Sedgefield the other day. No form study is involved in the system.
Architrave.. 1.00 M Rasen... No bet, forecast SP too short.
Beat All Out.. 3.00 Towcester..Win single
Benefit Of Youth.. 3.55 Ffos Las..Win single
Getaway Driver.. 3.25 M Rasen.. No bet, forecast SP too short
Winds Of War.. 3.25 M Rasen.. No bet, forecast SP too short. Will do both in a reverse exacta.
Rebel Melody.. 2.05 Fontwell..Win single
Run To Fly.. 2.05 Fontwell..No bet, forecast SP too short. Will do both in a reverse exacta.
Tavalu.. 2.40 Fontwell..Win single
Whatshallwedo.. 2.40 Fontwell..No bet, forecast SP too short. Will do both in a reverse exacta.
For future system reference;
Pure Genius.. 2.45 M Rasen
Silver Accord.. 3.40 Kempton.

| One way of making a profit over the last few years, has been to follow Sue Smith, when she sends a young novice chaser (5-6yo) into open company for the 1st time. She only does this when she feels her horse has been vastly under-rated by the handicapper. For the 1st time this season, she's running such a horse.
Lackamon..1.45 Wetherby.. Roland Meyrick handicap chase..grade 3.. 3m 1f.
The most eyecatching thing though, is she has an apprentice riding, claiming 10lbs, which effectively means he's running off 9st 8lbs. Johnathon England has had just 5 runs, including 1 winner and 2 places. 60% sr win and place.
Lackamon has a win and place to his name from 2 runs at Wetherby, and has form figures of 115151 over 3m 1f. 8 or 9/1 is generally available.

| Happy Xmas to one and all, now for tomorrow's bets.
£5 Patent;
Lackamon... 1.45 Wetherby... for reasons given above
Honourable Arthur.. 2.50 Wincanton... c/d winner and 3/3 in chases on a r/h track when soft is in the going. 8/1 best price atm
Storymaker.. 2.55 Wetherby, poor form lately, but is back on his last winning chase mark, and has 2 places from 2 runs at Wetherby. 25/1 best price atm
Grand Crus is a win lay in the Feltham at about 6/4, whilst the front running Teaforthree is a small win bet at 16/1.
Rock On Ruby is a win lay in the Xmas hurdle. Just cannot see how a horse that finished 2nd in a grade 1 hurdle over 21f, will have the speed back over 16f on a sharp course.
Somersby is a place bet in the KG. Personally believe he'll have more chance of winning the GC than the King George, but worth a place bet on his 1st try at 3m.

| long run - king george, kempton - unless captain chris or master minded prove flies in the ointment i expect him to slam the lot of them by a good 6L or so. lots still doubt SWC, mainly due to his debacle the other week, but he proved me wrong last season and now will happily have him on my side. won the kg and gc last year, as well as giving oscar time a terrific ride over the national fences.
bog warrior - leopardstown 220 - martin rates this one out of the top drawer, looks tailor made for fences and the soft ground ideal
sir des champs - limerick 210 - gigginstown look to have made the right decision to avoid clashing him with bog warrior at this early stage of his fencing career and the trip to limerick should pay off. emmett mullins not great but certainly better than a certain PW mullins and he also rode the horse to his festival win.
binocular - christmas hurdle, kempton - fighting fifth not his race and has a good chance of beating overturn today, always comes on a bundle for his first run of the season and should improve dramatically (as should long run) today. overturn hasnt had a good rest for a while so is bound to bomb out sooner or later, and cant see 2m round kempton being ideal for RoR as he has ran well over further so perhaps would want a very stiff 2m on a galloping track. henderson says he is very hopeful of a binocular repeat.
already got a bit on long run from earlier this week, rest of bets TBC.
