I don't sympathise with him at all. I think too many celebs live for the moment, waste their money and don't think of what could happen in the future.

The promo was impromptu & was done ok for me. The match was brutal in every sense of the word.

I was a big mark for both Flair & Foley when they could both go a bit, but this was rotten. What really gets me about this is that Flairs problem with Foley was always that Flair saw him as a stunt man rather than a wrestler. Relying on dangerous looking high spots & lots of blood. Well 'scuse me Rick, what was the last match standing then ??? And, come to think about it, every match since he retired at Wrestlemania.

Leeds Rhinos? 8 for you, Leeds Rhinos! You go, Leeds Rhinos. And none for Castleford Tigers. Bye!:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_1140.jpg

I still mark out a bit for Foley, having seen what could be considered the peak of his career during the Attitude era, but in all the time I've watched wrestling (since about 1996) Flair has always been complete rubbish. A spotlight hogging embarrassment. I appreciate he may have been one of the all time greats, but I've never seen it.

Agree with everything there. Foley deserves tremendous credit for playing a big part in keeping the WWF's head above water in 1996 when they were really struggling (e.g. his series with The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels were both good from what I've seen read), and then with Mankind and the Mr Socko gimmick he was a huge factor in the turnaround and Attitude Era. He, like many wrestlers, has gone back on his 'retirement' word several times, but he's still a great talker and overall I love his work as a performer (Randy Orton for one should always be grateful for what Foley did for his career).

I started watching wrestling in April 1991 (Wrestlemania 7 been the first PPV I saw). Flair debuted later that year and believe me mate, he was outstanding. The guy had charisma, the looks, and most importantly could tell a story as well as anyone else. His performance at the 1992 Royal Rumble is still one of my fondest wrestling memories (he lasted approx 60 minutes in it, to eliminate Sid Justice and become WWF champion). Until probably the mid 90's or so he was still having great matches in WWF and then WCW when he went back there. But, since probably 1998 you could count on one hand how many great matches he's had (Bret Hart, Vince McMahon believe it or not, Triple H, HBK at WM24). No shame in this at his age, but therefore he should not still be hogging prime time TV as a wrestler IMO. The guy's a legend and he always will be, but the more he does now the harder it is to remember the real Ric Flair, the guy who wrestled all over the world doing one-hour matches on a nightly basis, and inspired guys like HBK and HHH to become wrestlers. In terms of the wrestlers during my era (91-present) he's at best third, behind Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels, but I loved the guy back in the day.

Hey so what happened with the match anyway? icon_smile.gif

Agreed, same with Hogan, was watching a Honky Tonk Man shoot interview after the show last night, he gives you an impression of the money Hogan was making in the 80's (nevermind 90's in WCW). HTM said guys like Hillbilly Jim would get merchandise royalty cheques for $80,000 - imagine what Hogan was getting therefore?! icon_eek.gif (x the figure by four or five perhaps). Him and Flair must have made millions, and millions in the 80's and 90's, figures most guys can only dream of.

But a lot of wrestlers in the 80's were apparently donating a lot of their money to their good friend charlie

Happened in the 90's too - Road Dogg is one of the wrestlers who admits to blowing a huge part of his Attitude Era earnings on drugs. Shame cos he comes across as a really cool guy, the type who always takes time to sign autographs etc. icon_sad.gif

Read a story somewhere about Flair settling a bar bill for thousands at the Summerslam 92 (the one held at Wembley Stadium) after-party, will have to see if it's on the net.

Lots of high spots with bags of tacks & a barbed wire board. Basically Flair did that soft Flair fall of his through the pile of tacks & couldn't make 10.

Also look on reaction for the camera man for no reason at all keep bobbing down to blimp at Micky James' tits.

Must say that is one of the coolest PPV ads I have seen for a long time. icon_cool.gif eusa_clap.gif Feel Mr Anderson deserves a great deal of credit for his work so far in TNA (more from what I've read then seen due to not having Sky icon_cry.gif ). Watched his RF shoot interview not long ago, he comes across as a decent guy who got over strongly in WWE, but then kinda screwed up. However, rather then moping or becoming a shell of his old self, he's clearly put in a lot of work on his skills to become apparantly a better all-round performer in TNA then he was in WWE (and has shaked the 'WWE Reject' tag which I imagine must be hard to do). Pope deserves credit for doing all the same too, if TNA could do this more with their signings they would grow much faster as a company.

Hey Lister, so what's the score with Jeff Hardy's ongoing case? I.e. I read a while ago that there was unfortunately a big chance of him doing time, but it seems to be dragging out a long while? Be a great shame if he does because he has a rapport from fans that few wrestlers have, and at his peak in WWE was probably the most-over babyface seen Austin or Rock.

Very mixed about this really - clearly Nash is years past his peak and appears to have difficulty wrestling now because of his mobility. On the other hand he's been a great character in wrestling, and was a huge part of the late 90's boom period. Yes he's been lazy in the ring at times (though of course he still denies that), and he had a part in WCW's downfall when he was given the pen, but his role in the nWo was something so strong that most wrestlers will never achieve (i.e. in changing the business), and as Diesel in WWF I thought he was a good big-man character (despite the knocks he gets).

Thanks for the memories Big Daddy Cool / Big Sexy, be nice to see a Hall of Fame induction for him and Hall at some point (been inducted by HHH and HBK would be cool as hell). a014.gif eusa_clap.gif eusa_clap.gif icon_smile.gif

His court date keeps getting pushed back (I think about 5 times now, it might be more), but he's next due in court on October 25.

Ah right, cheers. icon_smile.gif

Had got the impression that Chris Jericho had left WWE, but from talking to my mate on Friday it sounds like he's just having a break? Hope so because he's a class act, be a big blow for them to lose him permanantly.

Will also be interesting to see what Matt Hardy does nextm not heard anything for a couple of weeks.
