| Murray lacks that extra gear I think to take that last step to glory. Fair play to him but with Nadal and Djokovic being his age as well I think he'll struugle to win a major.

| He's really fit is Murray and has got a lot of class.
But there are players fitter and classier.
He needs to go away and work on his physique more.
It's just that little extra power in his shots and that little bit more stamina that would see him become a champion.
Otherwise, he will never win a major.
He is naturally gifted but hasn't got the body at the moment.
And I am not sure a cardboard cut-out as a coach helps.
It is clear when players are not throwing the ball high enough on first serves, that's when a bit of coaching wouldn't go amiss.

| Bump...
Fantastic performance tonight and a great game all round. Really looked like he was going to blow it after losing the 4th set. Delighted he's managed to get his first Grand Slam under his belt. Hopefully he can push on and win a few more now he's got the first out of the way.

Oops
Well done, Andy.

| Thought this was a thread complaining about Murray's no-show at the Olympic parade yesterday. The massive slacker.

| Scotland's Andy Murray wins his first Grand Slam title. I bet there are quite a few on here who are eating their words now.

Not me. I watched it and was wanting him to win, but I must admit I'm still finding it hard to actually like him. He just seems so miserable and lacking in personality. He just doesn't seem to enjoy any of it, as if he's another of the elite that play tennis that was dragged to practice every day at 6am in his mother's Range Rover and has resented it ever since.
I was very impressed with his ability however, he's got the full range of shots now and has improved dramatically from a few years back when I last sat through one of his matches.

Sorry mate, but that's total nonsense. If he hated it and didn't care there's no way he'd get as pumped up as he does, as frustrated as he does, you just can't put on that type of emotion.

Some people are just cursed with a miserable tone of voice and aren't very demonstrative. Ivan Lendl was hardly a natural when it comes to smiling for the cameras.
Philosophical point. Which is best: laugh-a-minute, plucky loser or sullen, arch-miserablist winner?
