| Quote: G1 "The media has been making a lot of noise about this but IMO he should be fourth in the pecking order behind RGIII, Wilson and Alfred Morris.
I'm not going to start bashing Luck, who has had a decent rookie season and will no doubt have a stellar career but this rookie class have achieved some truly remarkable things and the achievements of RGIII, Wilson and Morris have been greater than Lucks.
RGIII has been rookie of the week seven times, Luck three and Morris two (though Morris may well get it this week).
RGIII has posted one of the greatest ever passer ratings by a rookie. Incidentally, Wilson did as well, just not quite as good as RGIIIs.
Luck has played like a rookie at times, turning the ball over way too much. He's lead some come backs but many have been digging the Colts out of holes he has put them in. I'm not bashing the kid, that is what you expect from a rookie. But that is something that RGII has not done.
Luck has taken a poor Colts team to the playoffs. RGIII has taken a worse Redskins team to the Playoffs and has done so by winning a division, not a wild card with a much tougher schedule than Luck has faced. I know the Colts were the worst team in football last year but they were a Qb away from a team that regularly won their division. They were playoff regulars. The Redskins have been last in the NFC East for four consecutive seasons prior to this.
Oh, and Alfred Morris has very quietly been second in the league in rushing, 2nd in rushing TDs and posted the 3rd best rookie rushing season EVER.
So, all said, I'd bracket them RGIII, Wilson, Morris and Luck. But Luck may garner a lot of hype because the Colts have been such a heart warming story and so easy to root for.'"
I think RGIII will be OROY and deservedly so.

| Quote: Andy Gilder "13-3, in a division where no team finished worse than 7-9.'"
Relatively easy strength of schedule - but fair play you are a good regular season team.
Quote: Andy Gilder "1st seed in the NFC.'"
Again, fair play.
Quote: Andy Gilder "A QB who broke the franchise record for TD passes in a season.'"
32 is hardly earth shattering.
Quote: Andy Gilder "The only TE in NFL history with five 90-catch seasons'"
....and zero playoff wins.
Quote: Andy Gilder "A WR who became only the fifth player in NFL history to post three consecutive 90-catch, 1200-yard seasons'"
Good player.
Quote: Andy Gilder "It's nice to still be flying under the radar though, everyone else just keep talking about the Packers and whoever else...'"
You are justifiably being written off a little given how much Matty Ice regresses when it gets to playoff time.
Yet to throw for 200 yards in the playoffs.
71.2 passer rating.
Of 95 QB's with over 100 pass attempts in the playoffs Ryan is 92nd with 5.31 yards per attempt.
38 offensive points on 33 possessions - 1.15 points per drive.
Hasn't scored a point in 1 hour of play.

I will get very excited about the 3rd greatest rookie running back season ever, even if you want to dismiss it.

McFadden is a cut runner and like's to hit a hole rather than wait for one to develop and be patient. which is why he struggles, also different o-lines.

| RG3 is amazing. He can do anything, for me the most impressive thing is his accuracy.
However he has a significantly better team around him IMO. He has decent WR's and a good defence. Coupled with the ZBS where you can plug in any half decent RB.
Luck however has nothing except Reggie Wayne and a couple of rookie TE's. Plus a defence which has changed schemes. He has literally dragged that team into the playoffs and an excellent turn around from last season. He makes a few more mistakes, but that is because he has to take more chances given the lack of talent around him.
Ultimately they will be 2 of the best QB's in the league in time so it's splitting hairs.
Morris and Wilson shouldn't even be considered.

Again, I think the talent level thing is a fallacy.
The Redskins never had anyone compared to Reggie Wayne on their roster. Garcon was the Colts no. 2 WR and whilst he is a beast and I love him, he's was injured large parts of the season (his return, btw, was not coincidental with our upsurge in form). Fleener and Allen were 2nd and 3rd round draft picks. I'll agree Fred Davies is better but when he went down we had Logan Paulsen (an Undrafted Free Agent) and Niles Paul (a converted WR with 2 catches going into this year).
Yes, we have a better running game but that is not an argument against RGII, it's an argument FOR him. Firstly, he's contributed 800+ of those yards himself (another rookie record) and his presence in the read option has assisted Morris in many of the yards he has gained.
I agree that Luck has had the impact on the Colts you suggest he has but RGIII has had no less an impact in DC. he's turned around a locker room full of over paid malcontents into a team. He was named a captain at the bye week, remarkable for a rookie.
As you say, both will hopefully be 2 of the best Qbs in the league for some time to come and maybe it's a bit of homer bias in me but I think there has been some distance between Luck and RGIII this year, which is no slight on the year Luck has had, just that RGIII has been exceptional.

| Matt Kalil will be wearing an armband this weekend in honour of Jay Dhesi, a Peterborough Saxons player who was killed in a car crash last weekend. I know quite a lot of people who knew Jay, and they started a twitter campaign which Matt found.

| Couple of days away from the start of the playoffs so here are my predictions for the wild card games
AFC
Cincinatti v Houston-Bengals have done well to get into the playoffs again but I can't see anything other than a home win here-Texans by 10
Indy v Baltimore-With Lewis announcing his retirement after this season he won't want to go out with a loss at home-Ravens by 6
NFC
Seattle v Washington-This was my hardest pick of the weekend but i'm going for a Redskins win in ot with a field goal
GB v Minny
The only time i can remeber wanting a GB win last week and they let me down. This week i want a Vikings win but I won't get that either, outside in GB in january is not inside a dome in Minny.I can't see anything but a big win for the Packers-GB by 17
A couple of news stories from the NFL Chicago have asked to speak to Bruce Arians for the Bears head coaching job .That would be a top class appointment as he did great things with Indy after Pagano had to take some time off.
It looks like Andy Reid had no job for less than a week as he's near to taking up the KC head coaching position.

| Cincy v Houston - I'll take the Bengals to get a win at Houston. Great defensive line and a good offence. Bengals by 7-10 points.
Indy v Ravens - I'll stick with the Colts despite the Lewis announcement. The Ravens are a better team but I just have a feeling the Colts will pull off a W. Colts by 3.
Seahawks v Redskins - I'll take a full strength RG3 to be able get some good production against the Seahawks defence. Redskins by 7.
Vikings v Packers - we should win, but divisional games are always difficult to predict given how often we all face each other. If we can get out early then we negate AP and Ponder will not be able to make big plays again. Playing at Lambeau and the weather are also big advantages. Packers by 21

| My predictions would be:
Houston to get back to a bit of form and beat the Bengals
I reckon the Colts will get blown out by the Ravens. Great season from them all things considered but don't think they're anywhere near as good as their record suggests.
Seahawks to scrape past the Redskins.
Can't see Minnesota beating the Packers twice in a row, so Green Bay to advance.

| Houston are not the dominant team they were a month ago but I will take them over Cincinnati based upon superior personnel.
Sadly I think the Colts feel good story will end at Baltimore.
Can Green Bay stop AP? They couldn't twice this year but I can't see Green Bay losing a playoff game at home in January.
I've got to be a homer and take the Redskins but I can see it. Seattle are 3-5 away from home and 8-0 at home.
So I think I have taken all home teams.

| Watched a lot of both Luck and RG3. Lucks way ahead IMO. The offence he's been running this year is infinitely more complicated than the Redskins zone read offence and he has numerous game winning drives. RG3 hasn't even been the best rookie QB in the NFC as far as I'm concerned and as good as Alfred Morris has been theres no way he gets the nod ahead of QB's.
I worry for the Redskins next season if they stick with the option. I quite simply can't see it working long term in the pros.
With regards to this weekend wildcard games I'll goBengals @ Texans - Houston have come off the rails badly the last few weeks.
Colts @ Ravens - Ray Lewis is back but he's been poor all season. Luck and the Colts have the momentum so I'll take them.
Seahawks @ Redskins - Seattle are by far the better team. Expect them to get it done by 7-10 points.
Vikings @ Packers - As good as AP is I can't see the Vikes besting the Packers again.

Those would be my picks too except I'm not sure on the Bengals. If RGIII was fully fit I might go with the Redskins but they were too dominant against the 49ers for me to ignore. For the other NFC one I'd prefer us to face the Packers than the Vikings. A couple of teams which have managed to run on us this year have been quite successful which is why I would prefer the other match-up.
