Quote keithcun="keithcun"Really disappointing last night. Fair play to Chelsea, they did a number on us last. The best I've seen them play by far all season and I don't think it's a coincidence that Essien is back playing. A much better team than we beat home and away in the league.
Essien shackled Gerrard out of the game, and even at half time they could, or probably should have gone in with a 1 or 2 goal advantage as Drogba missed 2 chances you'd expect him to score. Saying that, I don't think Liverpool played badly in the first half, and contrary to popular opinion beforehand it was a pretty good game.
Even in the second half we started OK, but as soon as Chelsea scored the second we went to pot, and until the last couple of minutes Cech was unworked. Pretty uninspiring performance. Thought Aurelio had a shocker, couldn't seem to do anything right. As for Lucas, don't think he did too badly at all considering the stick he gets.
Lots to do, never say never but it's more than an uphill task at Chelsea. I can't see us winning 3-0 or 3-1, but there again, I couldn't see us beating Madrid or Man U by the scores we did. Hope lives eternal.
The important thing now is to get a result on Sat and worry about Tuesday when it comes. Knowing our luck, we'll get knocked out on Tues and Man U will get knocked out the following night, I think we need Man U to play as many games as possible till the end of the season.'"
You've saved me time typing out the same thing. The only thing I would add is that I was really disappointed in Riera and Kuyt to a lesser extent. Poor retention and no real cutting edge.
If we win on Sat, I'd send the reserves down on Tuesday. With Chelsea in that form, we don't stand a chance. I'd love to be proven wrong but I can't see it. Essien was unreal and is surely the best DM in the world. He is a freak. Breaking play up all night and then still being in position to get involved in forward raids.
I'm positive, and if I could be ar$ed looking I would, that a Chelsea fan on here stated earlier this season that Mikel had moved ahead of Essien in the pecking order.
