Guess he doesn't like to champion the better man, I don't blame him. He's not the first to be put in his place by Sir Alex

Wayne Rooney, Carlos Tevez, Iniesta, Messi, Ronaldo are just a few players off the top off my head which can play this role or do play it at a higher level than Gerrard, I wouldn't even say Gerrard plays a supporting striker, free role type player, you see him picking it up deep alot and getting involved in the general midfield play, I'd have him down as more of a attacking midfielder, he is still the best midfielder in the world IMO.

Attacking midfielder/second striker, basically the same position. I wouldn't rather Rooney, Tevez or Iniesta over Gerrard. All three are good but I feel Gerrard is more complete and more consistent. Messi is a fabulous player, he hasn't played too much in the position so it's hard to compare how he'd perform in the position to Gerrard, he's a better player than Gerrard, but how he'd perform given the extra responsibility is a little unknown. As for CR7, I can't ever remember him playing in the second striker role, I've seen him on the left, right and I've seen him lead the line, but never in the role of Gerrard.
IMO Gerrard has been in the top 3 players in the world so far this season. Ronaldo has had a great start to 2009, Messi has had a stunning season and I feel Gerrard has performed on a similar level to both of those players, I think he's been the best player in the PL this year, and he's had a great season in the CL.
I don't think Gerrard is as good a midfielder as he used to be. He's matured a lot and he now channels more of his energy going forward than chasing around without much discipline, he's so much better in the final third than in the deeper midfield role.

He's hardly been shocking in an England shirt this season, has he? How many games has he played for England this season?
Besides, who does he play most of his football for, England or Liverpool?
From what I've seen as well, Brazil have hardly been inspirational under Dunga, I'm guessing Kaka has been part of that Brazil squad?

easy tiger! dont you agree that it would be an awesome sight to see gerrard dragging england around the pitch. pulling something out of nothing. helping us lift the european or (in a dream world) world cup.
and please dont start knocking kaka, i still respect your opinion, let's leave it like that

| United academy player of the year: Kiko Macheda, think Matt James should have won it.

Of course it would, but England won't build their side around Gerrard like we have, and England don't have Torres
