| Quote: Roddy B "I don't rate Henderson that highly, but some of the flack he's been getting is pretty harsh. His game is still growing but the lad has potential, he's got a bit of everything and he's more gifted athletically than a lot of the recent midfielders we've produced (Carrick, Lampard, Barry etc.). Some others might have deserved a place more (can't comment on Britton and isn't Allen Welsh?), but Osman is an average player at best. I'd rather see England take a young player like Henderson, give him the experience and hope it helps him by the next world cup, than take a plodder like Osman who won't play and won't play at the next world cup.
Henderson has potential to be a pretty decent player one day, he has attributes but he's still limited and hasn't quite found his role. I'd much rather see the national side give younger players a chance than waste their time with dross.'"
Typical biased Red She-ite. You really do not have a clue.
FWIW, as a Scot, I am delighted Henderson has been called up. He is utterly -flaps.

Steady on Rob Roy. Whilst I too, cannot see Henderson as any great shakes, the reality is, he is one of a few English young players to be available. Look at the central midfield for England; all thirty plus. In two years time Henderson may have established himself a more defined role at Liverpool which would push him forward in the England reckoning. It is hardly like we have an embarassment of riches, is it.

| Quote: Lord Tony Smith "So you're not counting substiute apperances then? He can score once he comes on you know. 9 goals in 30 appearances. Comparing Suarez and Carroll isn't really a good comparison. Your team finished second, he should of scored more goals than he did, alot more. We finished seventh, hardly a comparison is it.
Like I said, I'm not really that bothered about England, just pointing out why Carrick hasn't been chosen to those who are asking.'"
League placing means absolutely nothing in terms of goals scored? Surely it would be chance conversion rate? I'm sure you will know that Welbeck get's asked to play outwide from time to time as well. How many did Danny Graham score? 12 goals? Must be better than Suarez then. Surely Suarez should be scoring more in a team that finished 7th. Classic LTS.

Carrick should have been playing more regularly but the media obsession with joe-average players like Scott Parker has led him to play less games than he should have done, which is why he cannot be bothered. They did the same to Scholes when they refused to split up fat Frank and Gerrard.
Henderson is awful and the picking of players like him show exactly why England will not be dining out at the top tables for quite some time.

| Gutted that Rodgers has persuaded Liverpool to ditch their DoF "system", because I thought that would have been as successful as their signing of Joe Cole and the interview process for their new manager.

Don't think he's got them to change anything. Since Comolli (and the many others) were sacked, the plan has always been to bring people in to oversee specific roles. That is still happening, I guess the owners have just assured Rodgers that it won't be one single person pulling the strings, instead a 'group' or 'committee' of people making collective decisions, instead of just one man's judgment being trusted to invest X amount of millions.

I just don't rate Welbeck the same as you don't rate Henderson. He has underachieved this year, IMO.

Where have I said I don't rate Henderson. I think he's a cracking player with bags of potential. No real weakness in his game. Great prospect for the future. Welbeck has most of the atrributes to be a very good player, his first touch needs lot's of work though, has a better all round game than any england striker not named Rooney.

| Liverpool are hillarious. Rodgers was clearly not intending to go back for more talks with Liverpool and was getting stuck into tying up Swansea's transfers for next season. Then the talks with Roberto Martinez fell down because of his refusal to work with any stupid DOF system and they call Brendan. Then every single person at Liverpool from Rodgers to Ayre to the Yanks all reel out the comment I said they would, about Rodgers being first choice. Even Steven Gerrard read out a statement at the England camp which was so funny, "I've been in the loop all along, Brendan Rodgers was first choice, he was the first choice, I knew, I always knew, he was first choice".
Why do clubs need to lie like this? When did football become so dishonest? Why not stick with the truth, that Rodgers was the only man formerly offered the job (As Martinez told them he wouldn't work in their system) and not try to add in the fact that he was first choice, when he so clearly wasn't?

Just tell me how you know what's gone on at Liverpool? Seriously. You're ranting on the basis of rumour and nothing more. Who's to say that Rodgers didn't say to the club "I won't speak to you until you offer me the job", so they spoke to a few others then decided that he was worth the risk? I don't know - or care - if Rodgers was our first or fifth choice, he's our manager now and if they want to say he's their first choice, good for them, who are you to argue?
