Job done - stuffed by Madison De Berlais - beat 23 lengths in the end.
4/1 for the Gold Cup looks good value on Denman, think he missed a piece of work in the week.

| RhinoDan, what exactly happened with the runner you mention? (presumably Tinagoodnight).
Probably thinking on the same lines as your good self - she was thus far undefeated; both successful runs occured on soft ground, she'd won at the course before, yard in (fairly constant) decent form in these type of races, - I risked few bob on her myself.
But Ive been busy this aft (mates 40th party), so not been able to see the race at all.
However, my money was firmly down with the local BetFred.
Next time I'm in there, I'm defo gonna be angling for a refund under "non-runner no bet" rules.
But, before I kick off with them, I wouldn't mind knowing what exactly happened, from a fellow (presumably calmer by now...) punter ... [/i]]

Made it to post but refused to jump off. I guess it would be under starters orders so therefore the horse wasn't withdrawn so no case for a refund. Could be totally wrong mind. I think Paddy Power were doing refunds but they always seem to do this kind of thing as a good will gesture.

Yes it was Tinagoodnight. Dave Lister's explanation below sums it up pretty well. Basically unless your bet was with Paddy Power and i think Boylesports you've got no chance of a refund. Paddy Power are pretty good when it comes to money back on unusual circumstances, unfortunately mine was down elsewhere.
Like i said i dont mind losing when your horse has run, but when it doesnt even move at the start its a sod! Well fancied that too which makes it worse!

| Dave/Dan: Thanks for the responses, lads. You're right too; because the horse was deemed to be under starters orders, I've no chance of a refund.
I don't especially mind backing a horse that gets beat (crikey, I've had plenty of practice at that!), but as Dan suggests, the least I expect from a bet is a run for my money.
Ah well you live n learn I suppose. Maybe I'll have to consider taking my trade elsewhere, by opening a Powers account.

| Anyone been following Dave Tindalls golf tips from bettingzone? In the last 3 weeks I've had Zach Johnson win at 30/1, Toms,Karlsson and Scott placed and last the creme de la creme of Nick Watney winning at 66/1. His tipping is phenomenal to the extent that the day his tips go on, the bookies cut the chosen players across the board.

It's not just blind tipping either
[iAnother player in a similar mould to Matteson is fellow 66/1 shot Nick Watney.
Both turned pro in 2003, both have already banked a US Tour win (Watney's also came in 2007 at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans) and both have the potential to be multiple winners.
Those with California connections (Woods and Mickelson and plenty of others stretching further back) have a great record in this event and having been born (Sacramento) and educated (Fresno University) in the 'Golden State' this is very much a home fixture for Watney.
His record at Torrey Pines isn't earth-shattering but a ninth here in 2007 definitely gets our interest.
Last week Watney shot a second round 63 at the FBR Open and revealed that the hard work he'd put into his putting over the winter had paid off (he finished seventh in the putting stats to back those comments up).
He also put in some quality time with Butch Harmon and that helped him shoot 63-65 to finish in the top 25 at the Bob Hope, before that 63 led to a 12th place finish in Phoenix.
"I feel like I'm playing well and definitely very excited," said Watney last week and with plenty of momentum behind him he can make a run at the title here. [/i

| Just going back to that Henderson horse from the weekend, i was pretty disgruntled too, but just had a nice surprise when logging into my skybet account and noticing a £20 refund.
Good to see Skybet doing the honourable thing.

He picks 4 max of a field of about 150/200 players. Put it one way, his level stakes betting would leave him up hundreds of points in the past year or so.
