Perfect playing conditions as well, didn't look like it would be after yesterday's weather.
Super round by McIlroy -8 is incredible. So many huge under par scores, maybe St Andrews isn't the test it once was.

Its never been as difficult as other Open venues IMO, but the thing is after todays perfect conditions as you say they wont have them again more than likely, if the sun comes out the greens will be like lightning, if it lashes it down it will be longer and if the wind blows it will become impossible with a combination of either.
Somewhere between -7 and - 12 will win come the end of the week IMO  |

Bit of wind and rain would be nice to see, just to add that extra element to the play. Wind is getting up now though, the flags are blowing so you would guess rain is on the way too. Conditions like yesterday would spice things up a little. If the rain comes as well as the wind we won't be seeing many scores like this morning.

Pfft bit of wind all they are all struggling, I once went round St Andrews in gale force conditions in a meagre 62 shots [sizeon Tiger Woods 09[/size.
Good to see Retief in the waiting pack. Think Oosthuizen(sp) will fall back eventually, though I did nearly back him pre-tournament at some astronomical price! Think he did well in a tournament last week?

I hope to be proven wrong but Casey seems to bottle it as soon as he gets in contention.
If you look at the probability that Oosthuizen will fall away (and if hdoesn't then fair play to the lad) and you put the 'lead' at -6 then there are some brilliant players in with chances. Casey, Westwood, McDowell, Woods, Goosen all have big chances if they can handle the wind. I really fancy a british player (probably McDowell) to come through with their course knowledge.
If the wind blows, I'd expect -6 or -7 to be leading going into Sunday. It's Oosthuziens to throw away though but we saw what happened to Rory yesterday. |
