Thanks mate. Sod it, prob won't be going away in summer so reckon I might have to do both tapings and stop over.
Yeah Richard I went to both Manchester tapings last year, couldn't believe how poorly attended SmackDown in particular was, I bet both were instant sell-outs there years ago.

| I don't now if this has been mentioned before but I was looking at picking up some WWF old school DVD's.
Had a look at the Rock, SCSA, Triple H, Shawn Michaels and then I came across the 15 anniversary Raw DVD.
On the cover is Triple H, SCSA, Taker, The Rock, Shawn Michaels Bret Hart, John Cena all of which I have no problems with.
My gripe is that right in the middle in front of everybody else is John Cena.
Really bearing in mind it was produced 3 years ago???
Surely It should be one of Triple H, SCSA, The Rock, Taker at the front SURELY.
I mean wasn't RAW built on those guys?
Or am I getting to picky.
TBH I would have said Triple H/Taker at the front simply for the reason they are the constant link throughout RAW's history.

| OMG Roverswell you've just inadvertantly lit a spark under me! Know exactly where you're coming from mate, and here's some more belters:
The 361 page official encyclopedia of World Wrestling Entertainment (released in 2009) has a variety of stars past and present on the front and back covers, such as Classie Freddie Blassie, Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase, Jake The Snake Roberts, The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels etc. Nothing wrong with that right? However, the biggest wrestling star of all-time (Hulk Hogan) and two of the most popular stars in the history of the company (Macho Man and Ultimate Warrior) are all missing from the front / back covers, whilst f*****g Batista and John Cena both take centre stage, what an absolute joke.
WWE have recently released a 'Top 50 Superstars of All-time' 3 disc DVD. And guess what? John Cena is above the following:
Ric Flair
Hulk Hogan
Bruno Sammartino
Chris Jericho
Sometimes all you can do is laugh at that company! Oh and The Ultimate Warrior doesn't make the 50 (despite been a huge star for the WWF and drawing 60,000+ to the SkyDome for a match still talked about 21 years later) but the Big Show (a major WWF/E disappointment over the last 12 years considering the money they've paid him) makes the 50!
Another strange thing with the book is that Benoit is somehow in it, despite them erasing his name from history elsewhere.

The reason Hogan is not featured on the cover is down to an image rights issue ie he'd want more money for the use of his face on the book. It's a similar situation with both Randy Savage and Warrior, though there's a little backstage politics involved with those two. As you'll notice Warrior refused to appear on the WWE dvd about him and there's been no such dvd package put together for Savage.
As for the Top 50 Superstars? It was decided by an internet vote I believe. Hence the weird placings of some of the guys as they're either only known as old men at the end of their careers or, in some cases, not at all.

Hmm, Hogan IS in the book though mate, infact he gets the same coverage (double-page spread) as the likes of Taker, HHH, Cena, Rock etc. Also, him, Savage and Warrior are all on the new game. The Warrior DVD was basically a burial of the guy, presumably it wouldn't have been if he'd cooperated. I reckon that's why Bret Hart contributed to his project 5 or 6 years ago - he knew they were going to do it with or without him, so he prob thought do it with them so that it's a tribute to his legacy (which it ended up been) rather then a burial like Warrior's (which IMO was a cruel DVD - the guy did have bad points yes, but he contributed a lot to the company in the late 80's / early 90's). There is a DVD about Savage though mate:
www.amazon.co.uk/WWE-Madness-Ult ... 797&sr=1-1
PowerSlam didn't think much to it though, e.g. it's got Matt Striker and someone like Maria presenting it?
Yeah guess you're right about the 50 Superstars DVD, hurts as a long-time fan to see this crap though eh. Guys like Hogan, Flair and Savage had a charisma and connection with the fans that most modern guys (e.g. Batista) never had, personally I'll always remember and respect the contributions of guys like that. People slag off the Warrior a lot (and again, I admit he does seem a bit controversial these days let's say), but he's still popular today, e.g. his action figures. In wrestling circles he's still an icon.
Speaking of Batista btw, read somewhere on the net the other day that he currently has no plans to return to WWE. Am surprised at this cos I figured he'd be back after a few months break. Also found it offensive that he criticised some of his peers during his time with WWE e.g. apparantly whilst wrestling on Raw he said in an interview/s that he thought some of the SmackDown crew were "lazy". The guy only ever had a good match when carried by a legend like Taker (or a super worker like Christian, who tbf to Batista he did praise).

Completely passed me by there was a Randy Savage DVD. But again, it's done without the man's involvement, which WWE are allowed to do as they pretty much own every bit of wrestling footage in the USA for the last 50 years or something. Hogan would still be in the book, but I think if they put him on the cover it falls under using his image for advertising or something like that and he'd be owed a ton of money for it. Which WWE would be loathed to cough up.
I agree with the Warrior dvd being a burial, but tbh, it's hard to find anyone, other than Warrior, that has a good thing to say about the guy

| I've been getting back into wrestling recently and it's sad to see Edge retire. He's been one of the best for the past 10 years and you can tell he loved the WWE. Anyway is the draft pick on Raw on Monday, if so it's always interesting to watch.

Even though they are doing it without his permission, they will still be paying him roaylaties, so he probably doesn't mind too much.

Ah right, didn't know about that re image / advertising. Still find it shocking though that Hogan is not a millionaire these days, he must have lived like a king all those years he was earning huge, huge money with the WWF and then WCW.
Agree totally re Warrior mate, but will always have a soft spot for him personally, great memories of him in WWF when I started watching in 91, his merch was always amazing, + I actually feel a lot of sympathy / respect for him to come out the way he did.
