| Quote: Robbie Rotten "It's a very modern approach, something seen more across Europe than over here, but I think it can work if it's done correctly. I also don't feel it will be all 100% Comolli once we get our coach, but Dalglish isn't going to be that coach, so Dalglish won't be making too many decisions in his tenure. Once we get our main coach, the one we believe will be the long term appointment, I feel they will both work in tandem with each other, i.e the relationship and roles won't be completely separate with regards to signings, they will work a lot closely. Still, I think Kenny is completely understanding of the vision, as he was scouting for us before Roy was sacked.'"
That's about the way I view it.....A coach, rather than an old fashioned manager, used to this type of structure, ideally with experience of this European way of doing things.....Steve McClaren anybody??.....

Ha. To be fair to Steve, he's put himself out there and he's taken on jobs in other countries. He's got more bollox than most players and managers over here, he's done well as well. I imagine we have our eyes on somebody foreign, the likes of Klopp and Villas Boas have been strongly linked, as well as Deschamps, but I think they're all reluctant to leave, especially mid-season, which is why we'll probably leave it until the summer to fully undergo our player and manager recruitment.

I guess I was being mischeivous, but, to be honest, McClaren would not be a huge surprise, or at least somebody of that ilk.
His coaching record is not a bad one (apart from the England nightmare), and he certainly has big player experience, having worked at Old Trafford, where he was held in high regard.
Working as a 'head coach' would fit him well, as some of the undoubted pressures of the job would be lifted and he could concentrate on the job in hand.

Johnson > O'Shea
Skrtel > Evans
Rodriguez < Nani
Merieles V Carrick - difficult one IMO.

| FWIW I think Skrtel's on a very slippery slope. Agger's on his own as far as centre-half quality goes because Carragher is long since finished. I don't know how good Kelly is there, he's a CB by trade, but has played fantastically at RB.
I think Meireles is a good player who'll get better and better. I think Lucas and Maxi would be good squad players in a successful Liverpool team.
I think Johnson's under-appreciated, he's not had the happiest of times at LFC but he's still class. I definately think he needs to be used further upfield, however. As a wing-back as part of a 5-3-2 / 3-5-2 or as a right midfielder.
So much dead wood though. Kuyt, Ngog, Spearing (sorry to judge you after one start this year mate) Soto, Konchesky...the list goes on.
Only good that come of this season is that the owners rip the squad apart in the summer and we rebuild. As long as we stay up. Our priority should be getting in some decent league form to consolidate and then try and win the Europa League. I think that's our only hope of keeping hold of Torres, with the promise of funds to come.

| Rumours we've made a formal enquiry for Luis Suarez, with further rumours adding we want to include Babel in any potential deal, to bring down the fee, like.
Can't say he'd be my number one pick, a good player no doubt, but I've voiced my reasons for not rating him so highly in the past, and they wouldn't change unless we became a 4-4-2 team, something I don't want to happen.

Would make Football Manager slightly easier as Liverpool though as he's unstoppable on that...

Right, in this list you've compared two squad players against two players who are first choice. I'll put it right for you.
Vidic>Skrtel
Rafael>Johnson
Nani> Maxi
Anderson> Meireles
The only players in your team who'd have a chance at starting are The two obvious ones and maybe Reina.

| at least The Reds showed some passion which makes up for their obvious lack of talent in the squad - a fan can't ask for any more than that - well done Kenny

I saw that.
I more accurate banner would have read - 'King Kenny has a lot in common with the Fonz'. They are similar because:-
- they both dye their hair
- they're best days are years behind both of them
- they're worshipped by large groups of clueless idiots whose pants go wet at the very sight of them

couldn't disagree with any of that (don't know if he dyes his hair tho') but as a neutral here the team actually went out with some kind of belief which was a bit different to the laid-back boring Hodgson days IMO - the sign of a good manager/coach is to get the best out of his squad however good or bad the players may be - having a relatively poor squad isn't Kennys' fault
