After watching Raw with regard to the Cole Vs Lawler thing all I can say is.

Seriously the WM 'match' was BAD please drop it now as it is pointless.

TBF though Roverswell I think Lawler has been excellent with his comeback return. I was really into his match at EC against Miz, I actually believed that he might finally pull off a WWE title win after all those years, so I certainly don't think Sunday was in anyway his fault, all down to that t**t Cole IMO. Which actually isn't a go at Cole, because nobody should have expected anything out of him. Like I said last night though I think the fued can still run but it needs helps, e.g. at Extreme Rules they could have Cole & Swagger v Lawler + partner (a popular mid-card wrestler like Kingston perhaps?), am sure that would be much better then Sunday was.

Re the PG thing, pleasingly they did seem to deviate from it quite a bit on Sunday which was good, e.g. :

The head shot with the chair in the Taker v HHH match
Austin using the middle finger a couple of times
The word 'ass' been used often e.g. by Rock (I'd read somewhere that even 'ass' had been banned under the PG rule)

Unfortunately though I really do think that it is here to stay the PG era. Which doesn't mean though that WWE can't be a good product - as someone elsewhere pointed out, when WCW was producing superb shows & PPV's from 96-98 it was mostly a PG product (e.g. the nWo never swore AFAIK but where cool as hell), so the product can still be great I believe, all down to the writing.

All the falls back to one thing though Cole clearly cannot work in the ring.
So exactly what is the point?
Some people were laying into Snooki something rotten yet she showed more skill in 15 seconds then Cole showed in his entire WM match.
I get the gimick spin on this but Geez this is stopping actual ring workers getting airtime, It's embarasing.

nah , i think whats happened here is they brought in the rock in ploy that would end up trying to get the crowd with cena and the sympathy vote ....they then realised this is gonna take longer than we thought lol.

to be fair many top names only used 4/6 moves stone cold for 1 ., i like cena for what the unique character he brings as for the rock he needs to be around more to get top card at WM IMHO was sooooooo flat on sunday.

lets hope they have a change of heart and burry it before summer slam .

wwe sick of crowd boooing cena ... so rock comes and craps on him and costs him title . the peeps champ wins it for THE MIZ!!!! so crowd should boo rock and then cena starts getting symphony . unfortunately this backfires and they relise that the rock would have to abduct cenas grandma and burn his kiddies toys befor the hard core stopped booing john cena .

The fans tell the WWE what they want at times.
A fair few fans are sick of the Cena Gimick that is clear.
If they thought The Rock shafting him was gunna convert Cena back to being a full face again then they are deluded.

Tbf though mate WWE have drawn huge money in the past from having non-workers in the ring, e.g:

- Bobby Heenan in the 80's against Ultimate Warrior (okay Heenan had been a wrestler previously but there'd been a gap of many years before these Weasel Suit matches)

- Zeus: Okay he absolutely sucked in the ring, but IIRC he helped draw WWF a lot of buys with his involvement in the Hogan v Savage fued

- Lawrence Taylor. Somehow carried to a great match by Bam Bam Bigalow

- Mike Tyson: Cost WWF a bomb, but then earned them a shed load more.

- Floyd Mayweather: Fantastic angle + match (against all odds) vs Big Show

Therefore, non-wrestlers having matches/angles can work if done correctly. With that (and Cole's heat) in mind, I think it's the right decision for business to get as much out of his character as they can, but I agree with you that his 'match' sucked big-style (which is why I think guys like Swagger who can work great will have to help out a lot).

Re the writing Roverswall, unfortunately I think that's another thing that we're going to just have to get used to (Hollywood writers). I agree it should be wrestlers past and/or present writing the show (probably just past because it's surely a conflict of interests if you've got a wrestler deciding his own angles/matches), but Vince McMahon is absolutely convinced that WWE is no longer wrestling - in his mind it is a form of mainstream entertainment like movies and prime-time comedies, and so therefore he needs writers from that industry. Okay we all know that he runs a wrestling company, but with recent developments he clearly strongly disagrees.

Wrestlers used to cut their own promo's (Austin, hHh, The Rock for certain) all the time they were just given an amount of time and told where to start and where to finish anglewise infact in his autobiography The Rock states as much.
TBH being at the top was as much mic-craft as it was ring-craft with some.

I think I need to stop looking back at the 'attitude era' as that doesn't help as I doubt we will see the like again.

Disappointing that they got rid of JR and the King from the announce table early on Raw. They're one of the best colour teams in history, and replacing them with Booker T, Josh Matthews and Michael Cole was a stupid move.

However, I thought Stone Cold was looking good in his segment with the Tough Enough guys and The Miz/Alex Riley. He looks fitter and moved better than I've seen him do in a long while. I know he's had serious neck injuries in the past, I just wonder if there's a chance of Austin maybe having one last match.
