| Fair play to Niall Quinn, he has told it how it is, on SSN.
Speaking about how our own press haven't exactly helped, as they have been very pessimistic with the coverage they have gioven our own bid, which is ridiculous.
He also stated that he cant get his head around FIFA's decisions sometimes.
All correct in my opinion.

| I hope Scotland qualify for Qatar 2022.
The sight of 11 gingers chasing Brazilian shadows in 50 degree heat for 90 minutes would be the funniest thing I've ever seen.

I thought Quinn spoke really well in that interview he called it spot on, for me. I think the media have been optimistic with our bid, very positive barring the obvious but either way I can't see that being an issue really. FIFA voters from around the world, based in Zurich would they be looking at our media's back pages? I can't believe the Russia bid was better than ours, having seen the presentations and speeches they never got near ours.
On 2022 - Qatar? what about the heat, 40-50 degree heats will be unbearable. They've said they'll put air conditioned stadiums in place but how can you possibly play football in those heats in the peak of summer. All medical and scientific advice is against their conditions alone.

And then when Scotland win the tournament, nobody can even get a pint to celebrate!

| What a surprise that the 2 bids that won are the 2 that the FIFA men can get the most backhanded payments from. There's no point in bidding for any future world cup because not only do the rest of the football world hate us,FIFA know they'll get no extra payments from us.It's now time for the might of the whole British media to get together and investigate and prove how corrupt FIFA is.

Brilliant post mate, spot on. Apparently FIFA have said they'll release the details of how the voting went but I'd be very surprised if they did. I'd love to know how they all voted, if the rumours are true I'd like to see someone try and justify how our bid went first and Holland/Belguim survived the first round of bidding.

Just been released that we got 2 whole votes - and one of those was our own rep.
Why anyone is surprised that the corrupt FIFA executive led by the England-hating Blatter came up with this result is beyond me. We never stood a chance.

It also seems to be the case that two people who voted for Belgium/Holland in the first round switched allegiance to Russia in the second round, which is pretty strange.

That sounds like a tactical vote to get us knocked out.

Same thing happened in the 2022 vote. Qatar and Japan both lost a vote each from the first round
Round 1: Australia 1, Japan 3, USA 3, South Korea 4, Qatar 11
Round 2: Japan 2, South Korea 5, USA 5, Qatar 10
Round 3: South Korea 5, USA 6, Qatar 11
Round 4: USA 8, Qatar 14
As for the 2018 vote
Round 1: England 2, Belgium/Netherlands 4, Spain/Portugal 7, Russia 9
Round 2: Belgium/Netherlands 2, Spain/Portugal 7, Russia 13

| Really don't know how we have come last. We might not have had the best bid but we certainly didn't have the worst.
I'm interested to see how this Russian world cup goes as travelling must surely be a problem. The country is huge and unless there is a marked improvement on the travel side of things I can see some issues. I also hope they don't do a South Africa and have huge stadiums that don't get used in the middle of nowhere.
It's been noted by a lot of people that I know that the two oil rich countries have managed to pick up the two tournaments.
