They'd accept another poor season in the CL if they retained their league title.
They are a better side than the league table suggested last year. They are a significantly better side than they performed in the CL. |

Rawk div on Carroll loan
Although I'm glad he'll get playing time I'm still sorry to see him go. He was never going to be a Fowler but given time, coaching and more playing time I think he could have been as good as the likes of Van Nistelrooy.

Everton in for Bryan Oviedo then? What does everyone make of that?
If we sign him, where is Baines off to? With Garbutt playing in the league cup, Pienaar having Naismith and Mirallas as cover, I really can't see where Oviedo fits in, unless it's to replace Baines.

Garbutt isn't good enough as cover yet.....Oviedo is in (hopefully) as a squad man, though it obviously means that Baines will become our next sale item, either in January or next summer, when the bank calls for their next repayment - By then, Oviedo will be acclimatised to the English game and will slip into the left back berth.
Remember, Baines didn't go straight into our side - He was understudy to Lescott for almost a year.....Of course, in an ideal world, we'll be top 3 all season and gain a Champions League windfall, so players won't need to be sold, but realistically, I think this signing is probably the first link in a chain that ends in Baines leaving. |

City will qualify 2nd from that group behind Madrid - they are a much better side than Ajax and Dortmund!!
United on the other hand, have to be targeting top of the group and should be looking at winning all 6 games!!
