I'm not convinced by the 3 at the back system. It seems to require us to replace too many of our better players with inferior ones to make it work. It can't accommodate both Silva & Nasri. Its as if Mancini is developing a system on the assumption that we'll sign De Rossi or Martinez and Agger. Still, Mancini must know what he's doing.

I was surprised he didn't play Silva. I know Silva was off the pace against Southampton but he's the type of player that could really hurt our dodgy defence.

Silva was seriously over played in the first half of last season and suffered for it. He was given extended time off after the Euros and didnt feature in pre season. I'm hoping that his failure to start today was just part of a strategy to avoid a repeat of last season.

His end product, be it a cross or shot, is usually woeful.

I'm so pleased none of the Premier League teams have come in for James Chester so far, he's the best defender outside the Prem by a million miles and is better than most of the defenders up there too. If we can hold on to him and get Sone Aluko and Proschwitz firing then we'll be not far away come May time.

He used to be at United, im not sure where he's from but he sounds like he's from Warrington way. Very, very good player, when he first signed it was thought his size would let him down but the way he reads the game make up for it.
