The problem is, too many fighters are obsessed with staying unbeaten.....This isn't helped by promoters like Frank Warren, who guard their fighters with too much caution, mainly for their own, selfish promotional purposes.
Its fair to say, Froch has now overtaken Calzaghe when it comes to admiration for their fight records.....Calzaghe is probably the better fighter, but because he was shielded for so long by Warren, he will never gain the esteem for his career that Froch will.
Whatever happens from now to the end of his career, Froch will always be respected for his willingness to put it all on the line, against opponents who were deemed to be his equal or superior.
Just one other thing, and this is not to detract from Froch's performance, but last night highlighted that Bute was the classic shielded fighter that Froch definitely isn't.....Bute was pretty poor - His defence was poor, and his chin was highly questionable, every shot Froch hit him with seemed to rock him.....Obviously, Bute has been well managed to gain the reputation he had built up, but after last night, its apparent, he probably isn't even in the top 5 super-middles - It was very similar to when Calzaghe exposed the much-hyped Jeff Lacy.

| Bet Warren will be trying to pair Cleverly up with Froch next.

Cleverly needs Froch a hell of a lot more than Froch needs him!!
I feel Froch will target a home match with Kessler next, which, if he wins, would probably see him go back to the US for a Ward re-match.
Cleverly only comes into Froch's equation if he were to lose to Kessler or Ward. Then Froch might just see a final big domestic bout with the Welshman as the ideal way to bow out.

I don't see how Bute can come back at World level after Saturday night.
At least if Froch goes back in with Ward, he can work on his tactics and change his fightplan, and perhaps change the result that way.....However, for Bute, barring having an operation to remove his glass jaw, what can he honestly do to reverse the Froch result, or gain any positive result against ANY decent punching fighter?
One thing a boxer can't do his fix a dodgy chin....Frank Bruno was living proof of this, and Bute proved in the Froch fight that his chin is one of the ropiest around.

| "The best chin is one that doesn't get hit" - Andre Ward.
We don't know if Bute can come back at world level yet, but I would strongly advise him not to stand straight infront of Carl Froch again if they do meet again.

| Not a great start to the week in terms of boxing news. Johnny Tapia has died at the age of 45 (they should make his life into a film), and Paul Williams is currently paralyzed after a motorbike crash. I hope he pulls through.
