They both managed to keep their clubs from getting relegated. They both managed to get to the FA Cup final and lose.
Moyes gets 3 LMA Manager of the Year awards. Ferguson got 4. Steve Coppell's got 2! Jose Mourinho has none. Those awards are nonsense. There's no wonder at the shoddy work of British managers when you look at the LMA.

Pulis had the third highest net spend in the EPL over the past five years (£75m). Only City and Chelsea were higher (£25m more than Liverpool and £13m more than Manchester United). That's the reason he's gone.

Pulis has established them in the Premier League, but were beginning to slide down. 2012/13 has been their lowest points total since promotion and they spent a load of cash - running not to stand still, but to start to go backwards. Time for a change and maybe look to kick on to regular top-half finishes and Cup runs as the next step of their development.
That and, let's face it; Pulis's style is pretty one-dimensional. I always think that playing that way, you get little shrift when it starts to go wrong. Play nice stuff and you build more credit which comes in handy when things aren't quite working (Martinez, for instance).

| Stoke will only look good if they have a target already lined up and they know where they want to go. If they end up appointing somebody random and just hope things work out, they'll be in for a shock. Swansea, for example, clearly had a vision of where the club was going and what type of manager they needed. They identified him, brought him in and the stability continued and resulted in success.
I can't stand Pulis, I think he's an idiot that abuses the most simplistic of tactics. They worked, whatever, but he'll struggle to sell those tactics to a future employer unless it's Everton.
With regards to Moyes' record, I doubt it would be so strong if he had to bring them up from the Championship, I think it's a pretty fair comparison although Moyes spends his money better.

I read it. Didn't read anything interesting. Just a bunch of marketing BS.
What's in it for Man City?

You have to forgive them, its the only silverware they have won with Moyes so it does mean something to them.

That's assuming the employer wants something more than tactics that work. Clearly he's never going to get a job at Spurs or Arsenal, but I'm pretty sure some Championship owners would jump at the chance to be in Stoke's shoes.
