| Quote Roddy B="Roddy B"How did Moyes do with his 'Champions League team' when they went into the Uefa cup that year?
Don't think anyone is claiming Rafa overachieved, or even exceeded expectations. But winning a trophy and keeping them in the top 4 in a 'transition season', after joining in the middle of the season when they'd just been KOd from the biggest tournament in the world - the tournament they were defending - in the group stages, is pretty good work. I think after the grief he's took over the past few months, it's pretty nice to get a thank you for maintaining focus and winning them a good cup.'"
What has Moyes got to do with the discussion? We're talking about Chelsea and Benitez. Do you do that in every conversation of life or just football?
Benitez took over a Champions League winning squad who has the chance to win 5 competitions and he won one. Class.

Man City setting up a NY MLS team.

Apart from the FFP fiddle angle, I can't see many benefits. I wouldn't want CFC setting up clubs anywhere else. I also don't understand why Citeh would be said to be doing this, when it would make more sense for the Sheik to just front it himself.

I'm slightly narked at the name, if only as it'll confuse idiots.

So next year the Premier League will have 15 out of 20 teams with a manager entering only his 2nd season at most, and only 2 managers with more than 2 years and 3 months. Alan Pardew the 2nd-longest serving manager behind Wenger. Absolutely nuts situation.
I bet Pardew will also head the betting for the 'sack race', too.

Just don't know why you'd try and underestimate an achievement that's still a solid achievement, especially when you've blown up the reputation of Moyes who's never achieved anything.
He took over a team that had just been KOd from the group stages of the CL, not a CL winner. He took over mid-way through the season, the team were struggling, the squad wasn't his, he was asked to do a bit of dirty work with regards to dropping Terry, he kept them in the CL for the next season and he managed to win the best trophy available to them after the league. As I said, I don't think anybody is saying he's overachieved or had a sublime year, but if you had an interim manager come in and win anything for you, you'd be pretty pleased and would thank them for bringing success to the club.

Like for like replacement at Everton, maybe? Think he'd suit Everton quite well, especially if Fellaini decides to stay (unlikely, IMO).
Seems almost certain that Mourinho is coming back to Chelsea. It seems Chelsea given up on building around somebody when they sacked AVB, so a pretty good move for a club that only wants to win, and has no desire to build a team or a legacy behind one manager.

You've made yourself look a fool all season with your comments about Everton's style. Everton have played some wonderful flowing football this season, the left hand side of Baines and Pienaar is the best combination in the Premier League and some of the moves they've pulled off this season have been great to watch.
[url=http://espnfc.com/blog/_/name/everton/id/180?cc=5739#This link[/url explains the delusional tendencies well. Gerrard and Brenton coming up with some absolute pearlers, blinded by the same delusion as you Roddy.

Pennant and Etherington played some of the best wing play I've seen in years for Stoke during the 11-12 season, it doesn't mean they play good football, though. Your left side is (or should it be was?) good, but your antics playing players like Fellaini and Anichebe up top, just so you can lump it up to them to knock down, isn't attractive to watch despite your insistence.

You are seriously in denial, and Saddened's right that it makes you look a fool. Everton have been playing some fantastic football this season. Just because they are also still capable of route one does not mean that that is what they have primarily done. The opening Mirallas goal against West Ham was one of the best team goals by any side all season, and they've played plenty of that brand of football.

He should be. He's spent a lot of money on good players and made the team appreciably worse. How he's still in the job amazes me.
