Quote Roddy B="Roddy B"Well what do you expect?
When Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham and Man City have all been better than Everton at some point (all still are at the moment, City obviously weren't for years), is it reasonable to expect some sort of silverware?
I know that some poorer sides than Everton have won silverware during his years, but I don't think it should be used as a knock on Moyes as there have been many sides on a different level to Everton.'"
This season Everton were knocked out of the cups by Leeds United and Wigan Athletic. Pathetic.
Last season they were knocked out by Liverpool and Chelsea. No blame there IMO.
Brentford and Reading. Pathetic.
Birmingham and Tottenham. Spurs acceptable. Brum, poor.
Blackburn and Chelsea. Losing to Blackburn, poor. Losing to Chelsea in the final, pretty decent achievement.
Oldham and Chelsea (semi final). Pathetic, good.
Arsenal and Blackburn. Acceptable. Very poor - they were stuffed at home by Blackburn.
Middlesbrough and Chelsea. Poor, reasonable.
Man United and Arsenal. Understandable.
Fulham and Boro. Poor.
Shrewsbury and Chelsea. WTF??? and fair enough.
When Liverpool are getting rid of a manager who won them a League Cup and an FA Cup Final place. When Chelsea get rid of managers who've recently delivered massive prizes. When Mancini's position is perhaps under pressure despite delivering them the FA Cup and League. When Fergie earned his job at Old Trafford with League Titles and a European trophy, you've just got to ask why, and how, Moyes is ever linked with taking over from Fergie at United.
When Everton have managed to qualify for Europe, most of the time they perform so poorly they shouldn't have even bothered entering.
Moyes is clearly a good manager. He's clearly done a good job with Everton in the league. But Everton are big enough to expect far more than Moyes has delivered in the cups.
