| Really shocked by the Adkins sacking. He seemed quite a level headed manager who had Southampton on the up.
He'll have no problem getting a new job but think its sad for English football than an up an coming British manager is sacked for an unknown quantity.
Its a no win situation for the chairman as well as they're currently 'safe', so if they do go down then surely its the chairman's fault for sacking the manager?!

| Quote John_D="John_D""Thanks for getting us into the Premier League within two seasons, Nigel. Oh, and thanks for getting us playing some nice stuff and getting us into a position where we might conceivably stay up. Not good enough - you're sacked."
Scenes from Southampton earlier today.'"
But you can bet your bottom dollar that 30,000 will keep turning out every week at St Mary's.
Premier League (and increasingly so the league below it) is completely dead to me now. It only seems to be the last few years that it has completely and utterly lost the plot. With the exception of a small few clubs.

Well, Suarez's was so obvious, it had to be a mistake. With regards to United, they often get a lot of 50/50 calls and it's generally seen as the ref giving in to the fans. Last night's handball being a great example.'"
Peoples opinions on refs decisions vary depending in which teams are involved, creating the above myth.

| Southampton are only three points off the relegation places, so it's not like Adkins is performing massively over expectation. If the new guy is a lot better manager than Adkins then they've given themselves a big boost for staying up.
If this new guy is better than Adkins, and he can perform better than him from here till the end of the season then Southampton have just pulled off a good move. SFC will be right, everyone slagging them off will be dead wrong.

Of course, you are right......However, sacking your most successful manager in history (win ratio-wise) after two successive promotions, the last one being very unexpected, and replacing him with a totally unproven manager, whose last job saw him sacked with his side having just 7 points from 13 games, smacks very much of the bizarre.
Its an 'in-house' appointment, similar to the Kean at Blackburn and Pardew at Newcastle moves.....The board are obviously hoping for a Pardew type result, but I sense they will probably be this year's Blackburn - And it will serve them right if that happens.

| It's an especially strange decision when you consider that they've only lost two out of their last 12 and their last three results have been draws against Arsenal, Chelsea and Stoke away and a win against Villa, to replace him with an almost complete unknown.

So 2 promotions in a row, dragging them out of permanent crisis in the process, and then steadying the ship in the Premier League, isn't performing massively over expectation?
You having a laugh?

| West Ham denied a clear penalty according to SSN. Allardyce will probably blame Utd.

Since Abramovich got rid of Mourinho, Chelsea have had 7 managers. Bayern Munich, being the model of managerial stability, have just appointed their 7th manager since that time. While Chelsea have being quite ruthless with their appointments, they haven't replaced someone who was winning them the championship and had just taken them to the CL final the previous season.
