| The death of Tom Maynard is simply tragic. Details emerging of the circumstances suggest it was a senseless and rather bizarre accident.
I was lucky enough to see a lot of Tom batting since he moved from Glamorgan to Surrey before the start of last season. He was a brilliant prospect. An obvious future Test batsman, with the all round game to flourish in the limited overs stuff too. Just turned 23, he should have been one of the next generation of England middle order batsman along with the likes of Bairstow and Taylor, who will eventually succeed Trott, Pietersen & Bell.

| Absolute tragedy.
Only saw him play "live" once and he scored 103 not out off 68 balls for Glamorgan at Old Trafford. Wonderful talent.

Awful but even harder to take as he should never even have been in London as Glamorgan should never have sacked his dad as coach, and thus making him want to move on, but that is just one of the stupid decisions they have made since going "big" time and getting test matches in Cardiff whilst letting the team go to pot.
I'm not sure he had the natural talent Matthew did but both were great to watch and just a real shame and needless tragedy.

| Lots of hoo-hah over England resting players for the final ODI, especially Bresnan who has only played two internationals on his home ground.
How are we all feeling about this rotation policy?

I think it's fairly understandable for some players but isn't Broad one of the players being "rested"? And if so didnt he get rested for the last test match too meaning he's only had 2 days cricket since the 2nd test. And how much more cricket will he get before the start of the SA series?
As a punter, if you pay full price for a ticket shouldn't you be seeing the full team?

You're paying to see the England team and the guys coming in are very much part of that. What I think is important is when to rotate. Bresnan playing at Headingley is a big deal, ditto Broad at Trent Bridge and so on.
The workloads, especially of the bowlers, does need managing, but only because of stupid 5-match ODI series like the one against Australia shortly and the one in India last year. Utterly pointless. We go to NZ next year to play three Tests, three ODIs and three t20s. That looks pretty much bang on to me.

For none clickers of Daily Mail links (like me), he's basically had a go at Athers for doing his job as a journo because his Test average is lower than some of the people he's criticised while doing his job.
It's the worst sort of argument from Flintoff. Of course you can criticise if you don't have the same Test record as somebody, so long as you do it with reasoned argument. Anyway, Atherton's batting average is better than Fred's, so how come he's able to criticise Athers? Is Anthony McGrath the only person Flintoff is willing to take criticism from?

| Ah, Flintoff. An entire media career off the back of one Ashes summer and an irresponsible attitude to drink. Stick to being Corden's straight man. Looks like rotation will be irrelevant, unless they fancy playing water polo instead. Another financial disaster for Yorkshire.
