Chelsea need one or two midfielders who can pick a pass and play to Torres's strength - his off the ball movement and runs, they don't have that at the moment.

Presumably Drogba will be sold in the summer and the finance made available for the midfield rebuild to happen, if not the £50m fee will go down as the worst transfer of all time.

Ramires, it could be argued, should not have been on the field to get that pen. He took Rooney out early on and then got booked a bit later on. Carrick was excellent particularly in the first half.

Don't think it's over though, they could easily win 2-1 at OT.

I thought your defenders were woeful with their challenges on Torres on the box.

I think Vidic dived in to put Torres off. Got nowhere near the ball. Went close to clipping Torres but didn't actually touch him. With the stuttering, out of touch form of Torres the presence of Vidic was enough for him to not make a decision but merely run the ball out of play for a goal kick. Nowhere near a blatant dive and only Ferdinand thought it was.

The second one there was contact between the defender and Torres. Not enough to warrant a pen for me but enough to say that it was a harsh card.
