You are bang on the money with what you say. This, coupled with a superior product means Rugby will always have the upper hand over rugby league when it comes to the media

Given the best players in NZ provincial rugby are overseas with the All Blacks, I'm not surprised few people can be bothered to turn out for what is effectively a reserve grade Cup final.
The ITM Cup, much like the Currie Cup in SA, is now a second tier competition behind Super Rugby.

As the poster said, it's a crying shame that the NZ and SA unions have allowed this to happen to once fine competitions. Union is the national sport in New Zealand for crying out loud!

| More smoke and mirrors from union.
Where did we put that playbook? I think UW had it last.

Could we learn a thing or two about selling out internationals?

| Well after reading about some disapointing ticket sales for all nations. I dont know.
We all know that union internationals do well but its all about club side heading down to cardiff to HQ for a good weekend away. And less so about the rugby.
I've no idea why we now struggle to get 25,000 when 15 years ago we would see 40 or 50,000 watch a GB International and remember in those days the club gates were a lot smaller.

Disillusionment. Have a look on the Halifax, Leigh, Wakey and Cas boards in light of developments at Crusaders. To be fair a day's worth of posts on the Leyth board could give the Samaritans work till the next World Cup.
Example A m'lud:
Quote dids858="Fax4Life"That is a joke when the RFL are splitting us completely in two by making clubs outside SL have to BEG to get into it through the stupid franchising ssytem and alienating heartland clubs by making us like lepers.
I like many other fans support my club (Fax) and not RL anymore, I don't care a jot about England RL its a SL team not ours as we are excluded so why should I care?
Sad as I have been RL through and through for 40 years now and used to support anything with RL on it and go to GB games and even CC semi finals, not any more I will never go to any internationals or any games as a neutral in SL anymore like I would do years ago. I just to to the Challenge Cup Final out of tradition and a trip with the lads and thats it they have lost my support.
I know a lot of people who feel like this now.'"
