| And in other news, it has just been announced that Liverpool FC have been refused permission to build a new stadium on Stanley Park. The council said a fair every year is fine but a circus every 2 weeks is taking the p*#s

| Quote RedTez="RedTez"Ben Thatcher and NDJ, two of the worst, most dangerous tacklers in the perm in recent times. Do City encourage players to break limbs?
Fair play on deflecting the blame of a City hacker breaking a talented players leg, to two of the more talented, under protected players the PL has seen!'"
Cannot, and will not, defend Ben Thatcher. Although he honed his ‘skills’ elsewhere.
As for De Jong, he’s not dirty. He’s just committed. Overly committed at times when it isn’t necessary but he isn’t what I would call a dirty player (with the exception of the Alonso tackle). He’s the kind of player that when you go into a challenge with him you have to compete. If you go into half-hearted, you will get hurt. Looking back at the game the challenges by Tiote and Coloccini were worse as they were actually violent attacks rather than attempts to get the ball.
I am not deflecting the blame, mate. Fans, the press, clubs, managers and players give officials a hard time for not sending-off players when it was seemingly justified, and in some cases for sending-off players when they didn’t even commit a foul. Match officials face a tough job making decisions on the severity of fouls because players feign injury. Look at Nani against Liverpool when he out his hand to his face, and rolled on the floor two or three times. What happened? A Liverpool defender had put an arm across Nani’s chest. Were you embarrassed? You have to admit that the worst two are Nani and Ronaldo. Ronaldo will always be remembered for being a ‘diver’.

| Does seem odd that the non exec directors can sell the company without the agreement of the owners. Sounds like good news for the lawyers.

| Quote Robbie Rotten="Robbie Rotten"the approach the media has to this is truly embarrassing, anyone who takes Collymore, Claridge and co. as a source of good knowledge should really take a good look at themselves, they are thick imbeciles who only get a job due to the numbness of those that appoint them. It's time for things to be more professional and more appropriate, those plonkers don't deserve any airtime/column inches.'"
And yet the media is full of these clowns. Collymore has his own radio show and Robbie Savage with his column. I still find it amusing the Mirror gave Jermaine Defoe his own column last season. Unreal. Just because they're pros and ex pros it seems to make them experts on the game according to the media bosses. I have no idea why, most of us could do their job, they watch the match and give their opinion. Not difficult.

They agreed to it during their last refinance with RBS, it was part of the conditions of the refinance. The only way they (G&H) can stop the sale going through is if they can raise the money elsewhere to pay RBS off in the next 10 days or so.

I hadnt realised that was the case. I suppose it will come down to the legality of the sacking of the CEO and Commercial Director?
Aren't G&H better off under this deal than allowing RBS to takeover in 10 days?

Hicks (Gillett is pretty much out of the loop now) will probably be no better off in either scenario. I would imagine the present deal is enough to pay RBS off and take control of the club before going into administration to save the problems that entails and leaving Hicks, hopefully, with nothing. Hicks only wanted to sell if he could get his asking price that was anywhere between £600m and £800m over the last 6 months or so, obviously gaining a very healthy profit in the £100's of millions. Unfortunately for him nobody was stupid enough to pay that. Knowing this, he's been trying without success to refinance elsewhere to pay RBS off and keep hold of the club but as yet nobody will give him the money, his past is obviously catching up with him.
Thankfully (and hopefully), the board have voted for what is best for the club, hence Hicks trying to sack the 2 board members.
