Quote Enfield Exile="Enfield Exile"I think you gave an excellent response to MEs post. However, I have to pick up on the reference to Elano. The lad is a talent. A big talent. He just needs the right role in the right team. Look at his assist in the goal against Enland. That pass was sublime, and I would go as far to say that no player in the England squad could produce such a pass.
As for Spain, they do have some weak points. I am not overly impressed with the full-backs. Please don't respond with 'Ramos is a quality full-back'. He's a show pony.'"
It was a good pass, wouldn't go so far as to say it was sublime and others would not be capable of it. It was well weighted, but helped by some shoddy defending. But anyway, my main point was that he's not the sort of player you'd see on the team sheet and fear. He's good, occasionally very good, but not world class, and we have those too.
Spain have about as good full-backs as most do. TBH, I think the well-rounded full-back is lacking in the current game. Most of the big names/reputations are more like wingers and defensively suspect. Just compare who are considered the best in the busines now to those of 10 years ago and IMO there's a gulf in class.
Spain will probably get away with it though because of how much time they spend in possession, which is where their full-backs do shine.
