| He did get a squad number but sadly he injured himself last year. Hopefully he'll be back mid-way through the season and might get a chance to shine.

| Lenagan said at the fans forum he had a broken knee cap! sounds nasty but i'm not sure how long that rules you out for.
He looks a really exciting prospect when i've seen him.

| Me and my hubby are the very proud sponsors of Joe, after seeing him play in the reserves grand final last year. We sat with him at the pre season dinner, and he told us about his injury. He hopes to be back in training mid June. I also told Sam T how much i thought Joe looked and played like him, and he Sam told that he is Tom L protoge and Joe is his. We cant wait for Joe to be fit and playing again. He has really good prospects, lets just hope we can keep hold of him!

Hope he turns out to be as good as Sam Tomkins.
I've read people asking could we have a halfback partnership of Sam and Mellor if they're so similar.........I say of course we could! If he turns out to be as good as Sam Tomkins we'll have one hell of a halfback pairing and I for one can't wait to see it.
I suppose the aim for Wigan is that Mellor takes either Deacons place or Riddells place in the squad somewhere down the track.

| Tomkins and Mellor 6+7 for Wigan for 10 years....Sounds awesome. Seriously we could have a full team of Wigan Academy players within 5 years the rate we're going.

| Anyone else feel like its our turn soon?
Saints had Pryce, Long, Cunningham and Wellens for a while
Leeds have had McGuire, Burrow, Diskin and Sinfield
We could have Tomkins(x2), Mellor, O'Loughlin and Leuluai
Consistency in the team brings success, by having a team of academy players who have played together for years we could be in for a good decade!

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

| Call me easily impressed, but Mellor along with Farrel and Davies have always been the standout players from the reserves.
Hopefully over the next 12 months Mellor will be slowly eased into the team, in view of him eventually partnering Tomkins at halfback.
Are time is slowly but surely on it's way back, just a little patience with all involved and we'll be there.

| Ou squad has an air of stability and togetherness about it that we haven't seen for many years. There are no superstars taking up all the wages. All the players have played for the club for a while now [Minus Deacon]. It just seems that we're getting on an even keel now. After the last 10 years I think our time is coming again.

| I'm going to swim against the flow here, and I really hope to be proved wrong. I don't see Joe Mellor making it at Wigan or Superleague level. I just don't think he quite has that edge to his game.
Like I said I hope I'm wrong, time will tell.
