| If I had a pie for every time Gary Schofield has been wrong, I'd probably look a bit like him.

| He's like the relative at a party who you're told "Don't talk to" and he yitters away to himself hoping that somebody'd listen.
You keep saying we won't win, Schoey, we'll just enjoy picking up the silverware.
By the way, that's a case of silver polish for Xmas, Schoey.

| Easy to be wise afterwards. As a neutral I thought exactly the same mid season.Wigan looked a little lightweight in the pack and lacking a killer instinct to me and I didn't think they could go the distance. Can any Wigan fan honestly say they had no doubts after home defeats to Saints,Wire and Huddersfield?Looking back on these boards would suggest different.

Wigan kicked on unexpectedly in the play-offs. They moved up another level, one which neither Saints nor Leeds could match, and which the Wigan fans definitely hadn't expected.
That said, there were times mid-season when they also looked very strong, so the latent power was always there.
The problem with Schoey's pronouncements is that he's got form for dissing Wigan, and rightly or wrongly, these latest comments appeared to have sprung from the same bitter source.

Doubting whether we would win it and actually categorically stating "Wigan wont win super league" are totally different.

fully agree, we had doubts, as any fan would but to state "we wont win it" so early in the season is foolish and can come back to haunt you as proven

| None of us on here were getting ahead of ourselves by saying we'll win this or win that! We'd seen what the team had produced in 2009, some good performances some downright dreadful.
Whether Mcguire could bring consistancy to the team was the key. This he did.
The loss at home to Leeds in the play offs was going away from the consistent levels the coaches had set.
I thought we'd a real chance when Saints bottled it in the club call. To make us go to their place was the best chance they had of beating us.
The two of the best performances were in the return play off game at Headingly and at OT.
There was absolutely no chance Leeds or Saints were going to win those games.
That confidence though came to me very late in the season even after topping the league all year.
To write us off at the point in the season as Schofield did was plain daft.
He might have said he had his doubts, that's a very different thing to say!

| Never thought we would win it and was actually tipping Wire.
The second they went out I knew we would win it.

16304_1526976105.jpg [size=100:2md8k3b3][b:2md8k3b3]'Do you remember when we had that meeting in Orlando? We talked about how we were knocked out the previous year by Leeds. And at the end, I asked you one question. "Do you want to be a semi-final team? Or do you want to do something special?" You all said you wanted to win. But talking is easy – it needed you to believe. It needed you to work hard – harder than you had – and make sacrifices. You did all that. you worked for each other. You stuck together when it was tough. And because of your efforts, you sit here tonight as champions. I'm proud of you. Be proud of yourselves. You've done something special.'

Worst predictions ever!
The wigan and hull ones where never going to be right, although i did only have us third, behind leeds and saints. Then again im not paid for being a pundit!
Most pundits dont have a clue though to be fair, but its always nice to see big fat gary get it wrong!

I started a fairly long running thread after reading his predictions in RLWorld at the start of the season. One of my questions was (ish) 'does anyone seriously think Hull FC will finish in the bottom 4 and Rovers in the top 4?' Nobody answered yes suggesting Garry Schofield either hasn't got a clue what he's on about, he allows the fact he dislikes certain teams to cloud his judgment, or both.

Just looking at who they signed would have told him that!
Always forget that he was at Hull, was a little before my time! Did he play in the 85 final? Only started watching in 87
