Wigan WIMPY warriors fans. Get a life. There was plenty of abuse hurled at opposing players and fans at the Old Central park. It's part of the game and what supporters do. One says he's moved his seat, that's tackling them lad, you get stuck in to your seat and give the naughty boys what for.
Jimmy is right. Some of the abuse at CP in the 60,s/70s was of a racist nature..and yes, as a kis i joined in , before i learned it was unaceptable. Standing by the wall on the duggy side were many kids (todays back of the south type), and every coloured opposition winger was given the same treatment...ie Bl*ck barsteward (apologies to mods if that not acceptable, but im telling it like it was).............so weve come a long way since those days thankfully.
the second bit re moving seats, i also agree with , as ive stated on here in the past. If everyone had that attitude , the hooligans would win...........its like Chamberlain turning a blind eye to Hitler........sometimes you need to face the problem head on.

Yet Wigan had the great Billy Boston and then Green Vigo on the wings. Unbelievable.

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

depends on the context.
in those days, and much later, we had stand comics telling racist jokes , racist tv programmes, etc etc.
when it came to name calling , racist remarks were the norm.
when kids saw racist names being used on tv programes , they copied.
watch till death us do part??...................c*on, N*g N*g, just 2 things said very week, and we laughed at it.
times have changes since thank god , but the PC brigade go OTT at times imo.
for example.......and i quote Dave S............you cant sing Baa Baa black sheep any more, because its offensive to black people.......so we mess kiids heads up by singing Baa baa RAINBOW sheep ......you ever seen a rainbow sheep?????
RAINBOW SHEEP cant offend anyone?..........i think you'll find it can......theres no Black in a rainbow

Racism at rugby and football games has always been unacceptable, as it is anywhere else.
The people that shouted abuse at black players (including kids) where just idiots and i remember attending both football and rugby games in the 80s and thinking that then.
I know i wasnt the only one to think that and i certanly never thought of it as being 'normal' or acceptable.

Unacceptable to a lot of us, yes, but pieman is correct, it was a lot more acceptable in society as a whole back then. Even the BBC would quite happily show Bernard Manning, for example, or, as already mentioned, "Till death do us part".

29281_1270406980.jpg When Maurice sold me to Leeds something changed, it just not the same, the passion inside me just wasn’t the same as running out at Central park for my hometown club.
We need a change of culture here; we don’t want to be just happy with playing ok on Saturday at St Helens.
Ill make sure that from now on things will change, that players will be under pressure and will train a lot harder than they have before.

Dont worry pal, these tree huggers love nothing better than stifiling debate and what better way of doing it than peddling the old racist card out. Over the past 10-20 years these nutters have graduly eroded parts of our culture in this manner as people have become fearfull of falling foul of the new era of sandal wearing, yogurt knitting loonies.

I do hope that that comment was just a trolling attempt.
The "PC Brigade" is WAY over the top, and just about every normal person knows and accepts that.
Banning "Baa Baa Black Sheep" was and remains a disgraceful abuse of so-called powers.
What about councils that ban employees from wearing crosses?
Re-branding "Christmas lights" to "holiday lights"?
And can anyone tell me why/how it is acceptable to have a "Black Policeman's Association", but the BNP was told that it's membership policy was too restrictive and MUST be changed by law?
(Not that I condone or agree with the BNP - Just making a point)
Until people in power stop trying to manipulate the entire population's thoughts and let us get on with self-regulation (which works far better than anything they can impose), it will remain a joke and will create more situations than it can ever hope to resolve.
People are far too willing to take offense at almost anything now, just for the sake of it.
Whilst I agree that racism is unacceptable and needs to be tackled, other forms of so-called "racism" (calling Liverpudlians "Scousers", Scottish people "jocks", etc.) are laughable, but have been targetted recently by our government.
Anyway, I'll get down from my high-horse now.
I just think that we need to forget all the political correctness cr@p and just get back to common decency.
If the idiots in the South Stand (or anywhere else) are chanting racist/IRA-related songs, they need to be told - Not just moved away from - And as for throwing ANYTHING on to the pitch, be it beer, coins or anything else - I hope the club find them and ban them for at least 5 years.

Well let me tell you!!!
You want to try being a scotsman who has lived in Wigan for the last 20 years!!
The way people mocked me for wearing a skirt whilst throwing telgraph poles around had a lasting effect.
People would hound me for refusing to part with my hard earned cash by offering to purchace a round of drinks and constantly made jibes about my pet Haggis (hamish, if your interested).
Some people can be so hurtful
Mind you using the term F.R.I.S.P makes me giggle everytime
