the person who threw the flare onto the pitch had a cas top on. he even had his face painted as a tiger.
on a lighter note its good to see that they now have 3g phone reception in Castleford.

| Is it just me or do we get season ending injuries at Cas every year ?
Looking at Cas's injury list as well maybe the pitch there is a problem.

| Quote: Rogues Gallery "51 tackles from Ollie Partington last night.
Had we been able to keep Sammut, Manfredi and Greenwood on the field, I think we would have won it. The loss of Manfredi caused disruption. Shenton and Eden had been invisible all night, but as soon as Manfredi went off Shenton went past Isa who was then having to defend in the centre position and that set up field position for the winning try, although it doesn't excuse the poor defending by Gildart and Burgess.
We haven't finished a game all season with four available subs, in fact we've only got past half time once with all four available. The luck has to change some time surely?'"
When sammutt went off I'd have played shorrocks at 9 woth Tommy at 7.
Bigger mistake for me though was Isa going to right centre. We should have sent Gilbert over there and let isa defend a against egodo.
Effort was 9/10 if not better for me.
Too many big men took its toll and the loss of our kicking game and Greenwood exposed that further.

I'll just mention Colin Tyrer at Wembley done by Keith Hepworth, and Kelvin Skerrett done by Dean Sampson. Both terrible injuries including broken bones.
I'm not suggesting that Cas played dirty at all last night. But you'd be correct IMHO about serious injuries when playing Cas. There is history.

Don't agree mate their pack were all over us like a rash long before they got injured, and lets face it neither of them are renowned defenders, we were still playing without the ball even if they had stayed on the pitch.
The only difference it may have made is that we would have had 16 fit players instead of fourteen, but nobody strong enough to stop the yards they were making and the offloads, we were simply not big, experienced or physically strong enough to stop them.
This will be our problem all season, not looking forward to watching against Wakey at all.

Well you could argue it was the same situation in the first half. The only difference being the players mentioned were on the pitch. You simply cannot say it wouldn't have made a difference when the only tangible evidence we have (the first half) suggests it made a huge difference.
That's before we even get to the fatigue caused by lack of rotation options and the fact that Isa was stood up when defending in the right centre position after Dom went off injured which effectively gave them the winning try!

| We definitely need to work on wrapping the ball up when defending close to the line. Our technique was all over the shop.
The biggest concern by far though is the lack of size and power in our forward pack. That's something that's impossible to fix in the short term.

| What the outcome from the game was that the injuries to Sammut and Greenwood and then Manfredi changed the game completely with no subs on the bench and a young and experienced forward line for Wigan against a Castleford experienced forward line .We were on a hiding to nothing Cas spelled their forwards over and brought fresh legs on whereas Wigan substitutions were non existent I think that it was mentioned that Cas had 14 goal line dropouts .It was men versus boys in the pack and Cas changed their tactics at half time to bring their forwards into the fore .Posters on here were blasting Wigan for losing a 20 points lead but you have to look at the bigger picture if we had no injuries then it could have been a better ball game for us we missed 2 scoring chances in the second half. The point I am making is how can you field a young inexperienced pack against an experienced big pack it was like men from the boys .Having said that I don't think our recruitment is good enough our forwards are too small.

| I think Lam realises the pack isn’t good enough hence his various comments about needing 1/2 new forwards. We need to let Tautai/Clubb/Isa/Hamlin go at the end of the year and recruit 2/3 big forwards, think Bryne/Partington/Smithies will be first team ready by next season and they’ve been very impressive last 2 games

Of the 4 forwards on the Cas bench Maher played 10 minutes and O'Neil wasn't used at all. Add to that the fact that Massey never returned after his injury and I think that pretty much evens things out.
Gildart was world class in that fist half hour but then we stopped the ball getting to him and as some have said on here our forwards started to dominate but it was a young Jake Trueman who deservedly took the MOM for his astute kicking game which forced so many repeat sets with the obvious fatigue factor for your players. I was surprised how easy it was for our forwards to march up the field though and I thought some of your players heads went down when under pressure.
At the end of the day if SOL had been playing I think his calming influence would have seen you comfortably home.
Thanks for travelling in numbers again, its much appreciated.

We were down to 1 sub at the end we had too many young players who did their best in Paisley ,Partington and Byrne who are all just turned 20 and Smithies playing in the under 19s.No excuses there you only play to your potential first half Wigan were on fire until Sammut got injured then we went downhill from there,
