| Quote: Aboveusonlypie "Just a few points from your rant. How would you define a "common thug"? Wouldn't it be someone who is constantly in trouble outside the game as well in order to deserve the epithet?
Secondly, you call him sly and cowardly. I would have thought that would belong to someone who does stuff behind the refs back not in full view of everyone. Perhaps you need to think again about your choice of insults.
Our obsession with him stems from his faultless performances in the playoffs last season when he outplayed Lunt Burrow Higham and Monaghan earning himself England recognition as well as the double. As has been noted earlier he kept his nose clean pretty much all season and proved himself one of the best hookers in the competition.'"
Let's agree that he was lucky not to be cited a few times last season.
You think McNamara picked all the best players for the world cup. Really.
Roby Houghton Clark Monaghan all better players and people.

He's no Nicky kiss.'"
lol find a video and i may believe you but i know you won't because its a figment of your imagination. He's just gone up against one of the best props and pack in the world and never took a backwards step.

Well he picked MMc over some pretty good hookers like Houghton, Lunt and Clark. So maybe he isn't as bad as you think. As to whether he picked the best players I don't think there were any world class players left out of the squad although you can argue about the team all day long. You don't like MMc - that's your prerogative, don't let that cloud your judgement of him as a player.

| Quote: Burtons Forearm "McCollum looks to put something on someone just about every tackle.
He's a common thug. Deal with it. Whether he meant to or not this time it's luck he hasn't done this a few times.
Just about every team has one it's unfortunate McIlorum is just about the most odious one in the league. [sizeSly and cowardly.[/size
I don't get your fans obsession with him he's a liability.'"
coward
ˈkaʊəd'
noun
1.
a person who is contemptibly lacking in the courage to do or endure dangerous or unpleasant things.
Doesn't sound like Mickey, infact, the actual definition of 'Coward' contradicts your entire statement.

| For me the video is in conclusive. But the panel judged it was a bad one.
Outside of the incident. MM to me is you average SL hooker, but he uses aggression and effort to elevate his game. I would not call him a coward he would probably take on anyone. If it's a stand up fight. But he does have what some call thug. I call it the psycho effect. It goes beyond aggression and effort into dangerous. Paul Davidson had it for us. But it did not endeer him to me. It just made me worry each time he came on about whether he'd hurt someone and/or hurt us with penalties or cards.
Of course if others want to call him thug I'm fine with that it builds a persona that along with incidents like this will make him more liable to get the wrap for any future ref calls. With him being a Wigan player carrying that is only a good thing. Not because of any threat but any player with a weakness like that can be exploited in a game. Wigan with 12 men are far easier than Wigan with 13 men. Just like any other team.

| FWIW I thought it looked less bad than the one Chase committed on Fev's winger (Ropati?) a couple of years back. Dunno how long a ban Chase copped, MM has been harshly dealt with if his ban exceeds Chase's IMO.

But tbh we all said Chase got off light. If MM had taken the EP and had 2 games then its not a problem for me. Apart from 2 things.
1 Green got a deliberate attack to the head in a vulnerable position in the GF and Westwood got 1 match ban.
2. Chase getting 3 match ban for a deliberate attack to the head. MM was not deemed to be deliberate so where is the consistency by the RFL. RFL panel on the whole do a decent job but at times they do give a decision based on who you are and not the incident in question.

okay, well here's the bottom line: they both broke someones jaw. 3 matches is a let off for both of them.

Maybe MM deserved three but if he did Chase deserved six. The fact they both both broke someone's jaw isn't the issue. You would have to be a bit thick to thin it was.

I was disgusted with Westwood for that and I'm a Wire. But smashing someon in the head from close range is one thing, running forty metres to do it is like being run over by a car and is far more dangerous. The damage you can do on the run must increase ten fold.

How can you possibly know what either RC or MM were thinking?
