I've never changed my posting style just because i became a MOD, some MODS have different styles i have mine. I was going to abstain but then Odem called me out and like most people let my ego override common sense. I commented on capacity and then people aim posts at me so i reply, it would be rude not too

| Quote: Horatio Yed "This is also my opinion 18k ground for a team who only manage to go higher than that for 1/4 of their home games is plenty big enough, in the same way i think that about my own team in that i think currently it is plenty big enough.'"
I don't think it's as black and white as that. Why would the club deliberately decide not to have the chance of attracting attendances of around 20,000 when they know the club is capable of that. I know they are rare occasions but the goal will be to constantly increase average attendances, particularly because it will increase interest from sponsors. The current average is 15-16,000 and so the next goal is to get an average of around 18,000 (and then up to 20,000). If the ground only held 18,000 then that wouldn't really be possible because you won't sell out week in week out and larger attendances are needed to reach that figure.
A ground of 18,000 capacity wouldn't be big enough because it would prevent the marketing team from having any ambition. Saints games would lose money on ticket sales as would games against Warrington, the 'Big One' games and potentially the other marketing ideas such as the St George's day game and the Heritage game.

If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.:icons39ad_files/4821-1859san_c-msnicons.jpg |

| and that's when you put plans in for expansion when you reach saturation point, but you're 5-6k off that at the moment.
I'm sure plenty of market research went in to the Saints capacity. Yeah they could get beyond that for Wire and Wigan but on average they'll probably get 13-14
*to Wigan Peer
That's my 2nd favourite topic

So by your logic, are Warrington more succesful because you are nearer to filling your ground each home game!! You try to justify yourself earlier in the piece by dropping our "bigger" games, and the "BIG ONE" because they don't fit your argument. But it's ok for you to justify a bigger ground for others because you say it could be used for other events. Perhaps if your marketing team worked as hard as ours do, you too could justify a bigger stadium.
We have a bigger stadium.. It holds other events... To my mind it would be silly for Wigan to have a stadium smaller than 20,000, whatever your bizzare logic tells you.

| I didn't drop them to fit an argument, i dropped them because derby matches aren't the 'norm' therefore you don't use those games as your business model you use the 11 other games not the 2 inflated ones.
2 games full stadium, 11 games with plenty of empty room looking like the Galpharm which looks embarrassing on TV.

But our place does not look "embarrassingly empty", except for the away end. Thats an erroneous argument. The cost of extending a ground far outways building in extra capacity in the first place. And the Galpharm IS used for other events, not least the wendyball, as you pointed out in your earlier arguement as a strength, now it a weakness. Make your mind up..

Perhaps we should open a Warrington "sticky", so you can post your bizzare views on that...

| When i said i thought the only logic for expansion was other events i wasn't justifying the expansion i was trying to work out the reason and it's the only one i could think of, i actually think the expansion of our ground seems bizarre for 2 possibly 3(Widnes) SL games a year

I think the 18,000 is so we can hold semi finals, internationals and even concerts.
The whole idea of having a new stadium is to help balance the boos by having the stadium used often as possible.

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good

sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever

Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
