| Our League position is a true reflextion of where we are.
Wigan's squad is not nearly as good as some on here appear to think it is.

While i do not think we have the best squad in the comp i would say the squad is better than a team's who should be in 9th.
For me only Saints and Leeds have a better squad without question, Wire, Bradford and Hull KR and ourselves are there or there abouts, we certainly should not be in the position we are with the players we have at our disposal nespecially when you consider we have a game over most other teams and in some cases 2 i think.

Your dreaming if you don't think this squad is better then 9h place. It's massively underachieved so far this year and has to(and is) improve and gets us where we belong.
If we look at the teams above us we have a better squad then every single team bar Leeds and Saints but they just haven't preformed to an acceptable level overall.
The other sides above us may not have as good a side on paper but they have players prepared to bend their backs and roll up their sleeves.

We should be much higher in the league than we are.
The majority of the blame imo has to lie of Nobles shoulders for not getting the most out of what is a potentialy talented bunch of players.
I still stand by some of my earlier posts in that if we get a world class HB and Prop we will be going places.
Look at the KR game the difference for me was the way Dobbo got them good field position off the majority of his kicks and they converted the chances they were given.
We need just that little extra bit of class

Agree 100% with a top Prop and hlf we could be a very good team but as well s on the field in my opinion we need a bit of extra class in the coaching department too.

| Agree we should be much higher in the league than where we are but we're not! Wire are below us and who is very confident of a win at their place this weekend?
We then play Salford and Celtic where we will win.
Then us and Wakey have a week off in rnd 17 followed by HKR away.
How many of us see that as a cert away win?
We all seem to rate our squad but when it comes to individual games then we back away from it.
I do think we should be higher in the League but who above us in the table are we going to beat to improve our position?

There's no doubt that we're far from the finished article. But if you look at us man for man, we're second only to Saints and Leeds. And there is better to come, if IL's trip to Aus proves fruitful. This is what reinforces for me that Brian Noble is not the man to take us forward.
We are a much better team on paper than we are in reality. There've been flashes this season of what we can do. But we never back up convincingly. Consistency is absent, and that's the hallmark of a truly good side - we never go on a roll and demolish all before us. Only that way do you get to finals and win trophies.
For all that I respect some of the things Noble has done, and have a lot of time for him as a person, he should have made us a force to be reckoned with by now, and he hasn't. We need someone who can take us up to the next level.

| I'm bold to suggest this, and I know there is another thread about Mr L, but I wanted IL (If he reads the threads on this site) to hear from someone who sees the benefits of Long coming to Wigan.
As always I will explain my comment.
We have often spoke about lacking experience in the halves, often looking over to Aus for a half to add experience (Orford Lockyer) When perhaps the experienced half we need is actually a Wiganer.
Lets look at Long.
Still in my opinion the best 7 in SL.
Has the experience and knows how to win a game.
Can control the team great organisation skills.
Great kicking game.
Still had a quick step
Great passer of the ball.
Half backs can play on into their 30s and do the job as they don't suffer a lot of impact in their game (like the forwards), and don't always have to be quick (like the other backs). A good 7 plays with his brain, not his braun, like Long does.
His influence on the camp would be that of experience and add a leadership quality which we would benefit from, especially a constantly improving Sam Tomkins.
For me Long and a good prop could well be the missing pieces.
NEW FB
Ainscough Gleeson Caromont Richards
Tomkins Long
NEW PROP Tommy Fielden
Hock Tomkins
Lockers
-------------
McClorum Feka (Mossop/Flanny/Farrell) Prescott
With players we can ship out for more cap space and youngster pushing for spots.
