That was a ‘head in the wall’ moment for even the non Latics fans. If I’m understanding the fees correctly - the longer it drags on the more expensive it becomes to buy Latics?
I wasn’t aware Portsmouth or Bolton were in administration for so long either. Shows how much interest I have in football really

| 10 still interested?
Jog on. Why would anyone with half a brain want a football club at the best of times. It’s the easiest way of losing money.
As if 10+ would be interested in a club in such a mess, in the current climate.
If their fans buy that, they’re bigger gobbins than I ever thought.
Not a chance

If you were buying a car, would you be bothered what it cost in 1999 when it was new? That's how relevant the construction cost is.

I'm not sure where that comes into it, surely the consideration is the cost/benefit of playing there as owners v the cost/benefit of playing there as tenants. No one is kicking us out and it isn't in our interests to leave.

| Anyone know how many ground staff have been kept on ?
Just seen a glimpse of the pitch on "Soccer Special" and alas it's looking a proper state again, looks like another relay is on the cards if/when someone finally does take over

Our lease runs until 2025.
A potential new owner could refuse to renew it or seriously hike the terms in 3 to 4 years.

Not sure how much that lease will count if the company it is with goes bust which if nobody buys Latics it may do. Obviously if IL comes in and buys the stadium we are all good.
I wonder if there is consideration to play at Robin Park until crowds are allowed back in great numbers........

I was just thinking the same thing. Without fans, there's no point playing at the DW for the sake of it.
If the Robin Park pitch is in better condition & the facilities can be made COVID secure, then why not look into to?

Didn't the lease get extended in 2007 by 25 years when IL joined, taking it to 2032?

Would certainly take away the argument that us playing on it in the summer (bar the 8 weeks when we have to play away games only) was ruining the pitch

| Now that Whelan has gone, the Latics are in danger of ending back in the same position as they were when Whelan bought the club
A small football club in Division 2 ( old 4th Division) fighting to avoid relegation back into non league football unless they get another multi millionaire or a reutable consortium which meets the requirements of both the FA and the EFL which has not been the case since Whelan sold the club when from 2013, he no longer had any interest as he had acheived his plan of winning a major trophy.
A situation which has not been helped by the appointed administrations who appear to have made a mess to such a extent that it has led to the FA and EFL not approving the sale of the club to those in Spain.
It needs to be sorted out and quickly.

So does that make it 5 people now who are fighting over buying the club or are they included in the 4 announced on Friday. Why do the 4/5 parties not all chuck in together and buy it? As 4/5 lots of nothing still equals nothing. Should be an easy sale with so many interested. Or it could all be a pile of bs.

Being interested in buying a club isn't the same as being interested in buying a quarter or a fifth of a club. They will each want control over decisions, and have different plans for the direction the club should take. Plus owning a quarter or a fifth of a club doesn't quite have the same gravitas, any mention would be of 'A consortium' rather than 'John Smith'.

I think (in fact I know) hes beig sarcastic
1/5th of a nothing is the same as a whole of nothing etc.
The argument here is whether you believe the admins are doing the right things on behalf of the football club, or, they're doing the right things on behalf of the creditors and in turn themselves.
Now legally their only interest should be to recoup as.much money as possible on behalf of the creditors.
I think (and in a lot of ways I know) the issue here is the way the admin have gone about it.
"No Firesale" - followed by firesale
Back in August/Sept "loads of interested parties, but give exclusivity to a Spanish bid that always seemed doomed to failure whilst proclaiming no other bidders (when in fact there were).
"Its the Spanish or liquidation", with repeated extensions of exclusivity, followed by we now have dozens of interested parties (so why go all in on Spanish who had numerous issues including providing POF) which is it?
"Exclusivity extended in December" with Spanish, followed by "exclusivity ended 6 weeks ago" when the Spanish deal fell through, which is it?
"Were not earning any more fees and in effect working for nothing" in November (and removing all admin staff from the stadium, followed by news that they're earning a 1/3rd uplift and have now applied for between 300k plus and 600kplus more fees, again which is it?
Theres a lot more involved in this, but the 2 car crash interviews this week give an insght into the admins minds/workings.
And don't forget I'm led to believe the admins advised the previous owners to do it this way (I'm sure someone will cllarify this)
People can laugh and joke, wind people up etc, but reality is the admin process is awful, and not really fit for sporting purposes.
The last 2 comms theyve released have been awful
Theres a lot more we could go into, But there for the grace of God and all that

He knew exactly what he was doing, the parachute payments stopped and dw was out the door, sold the club and took the millions he made out of the club off to sunny climates. But lets be honest he took a lower league football club up through the leagues which is credit to him. And they are now back where they started. And some would say its the right level for a club of that size to be?

I know someone who operates in the same circles as Krasner and that last statement on Friday has his fingers all over it. It was embarrassing, especially the use of the term "Fake News" (capitalised which tells you the person who wrote it is a huge backside).
"He absolutely loves the limelight and has by far the biggest ego of anyone I have every known" are the nicest things my friend mentioned. I would have to ban myself if I wrote the rest.
