| The Myler thing came from a comment that on the Salford board there was interest in him from Wigan. Who wouldn't be interested in him?
McRae was saying last week that they could do with more money. They could get a fortune for Myler. Also with the HMRC hunting Rugby League clubs for £100ks in back tax for EBT's and Image Rights there maybe few clubs with ready cash to offer. As Wigan won't be one of the hunted maybe Ian Lenagan should become a hunter and prey on clubs short on cash, and going to be a whole lot shorter after the tax man has sorted them out, but rich in talented players.
It would be a risk with two young half backs but that would depend on the props brought in. If IL & BN got their enforcer or perhaps two then they would be their minders.
As for Poore he's good I'm told, I like Jamal Fakir at the Catalans. He's big, can play prop and 2nd row he's also some enforcer too!
Myler would be great but the priority has to be props at the moment.
Depending who goes through the departure lounge and the salary crap cash available we should be able to afford two props and a bulky, mobile 2nd rower. Our pack needs size and aggression only signings will achieve this.

sadly he seems to be quite injury prone

| Stephen Myler might be looking for a move from Northampton as they have just spent big on Shane Geraghty who sees himself as a 10. Stephen is doing well in Union but probably a long way down the pecking order for an England cap...might fancy a move back to League..he can kick goals anyway

| Stephen Myler isn't good enough for Rugby League, that's why he's in Union.
He failed at Salford in SL and Widnes in NL1. He was Out of Contract at Widnes and no one was in for him. Then came Christmas early when Northampton turned up.
If he's got the slightest bit of sense he'll stay in Union.

| Regards Salfords Myler Wigan made a bid a few years ago and got told no chance, so doubt they would part now.
Northampton Myler I think would do a good job for most Sl clubs he has come on leaps and bounds in Union and i think would do a good job at either 7 or 6.

I doubt Poore will come he has got Cronnulla, St George, Parramatta, Canterbury and Penrith after his signature add to that NSW and Aus in the pipeline.
If I were IL I would go for Luke Bailey or Nathan Hindmarsh, both are rumoured to be coming to superleague at the end of the season but I would love us to sign Bne Cross, he is just what we need, an enforcer!

| You don't need to be Wayne Bennett to realise where our problems are at the moment in terms of playing staff.
Next season at a minimum we need (one of which must be a respected leader to take over the captaincy):
1. A world class half to play with Sam T
2. A world class prop who will put the fear of God into the opposition
3. A prop who will happily wind the opposition up and is happy with a bit of biff - quite frankly our forwards as a collective wouldn't scare a group of 4 year olds and that needs to change if we want to have a hope of winning anything.
To fund the above get rid of the following out of contract players:
Smith
Coley
Phelps
Bailey
and send one of Prescott or O'Carroll and one of Goulding/Pryce out on loan.
Leuluai has neither the creativity nor kicking game to be a 7 that will win you anything so he either takes a pay cut to be the back-up hooker (with McIllorum going out on loan), or we get rid as he's out of contract.
With that saving we get a specialist full back because neither Richards or Roberts convinces me TBH.
Job done! (I wish)

I agree with all of this except the bit about the full back. Not that I don't want one, but I think getting a quality full back on top of the others you mention would be too much even for a reckless wheeler-dealer like Maurice in his prime. I'm not even sure that releasing the above under-achievers and making the loan deals you recommend would cover the cost of the first three targets.

I'm not usually one for making large numbers of changes, but there is a real lack of quality in some key positions that we'll need to be pretty cut-throat during this season so we have the right players in place for next season. The halfback and two props are an absolute minimum for me, so if Leuluai has to go as well to fund the right quality - so be it.

Couldn't agree more!! Easy peasy or what Mr Noble
I do agree with the FB situation, Richards in better on the wing. As I stated in another post him and Phelps, both have the basic knowledge of full-backing, but will never be top class in that position. Ainscough is playing well and deserves his place in the squad, but just because he's done a Kevin Penny and scored a few tries, doesn't mean he's won my heart yet

| Luke Bailey has confirmed he's coming to superleague at the end of his current deal according to the league express.
Only downside was that it said it ran out at the end of next season so it'd be for the 2011 season which could be handy for us as it comes at the same time as Fieldens deal is up.
