| Thought Sarginson did well on Sat. Made a few breaks and, although he didnt get his winger away too many times, if he had of passed them Burgess wold have been bungled into touch each time so i thought he was quite smart in cutting back inside
Certainly showed a turn of pace to chase down Jennings

Agree with this. It's far too early to be criticising a promising youngster. I thought he did well and certainly didn't let the side down, and for me is an improvement on Thornley and Gelling. I do like Gelling, especially his enthusiasm, and would be happy to see him play at 3 if Goulding is injured on Sunday.

| Sarginson has looked decent so far. There was one occasion on Sat when he had an overlap and chose not to pass, which was frustrating, but he looks to have loads of potential. Was really disappointed by the kicking of Smith and Green though. We need someone we can rely on for goal kicking too...

He needs to go and watch videos of what made George Carmont the best centre we have had in living memory, ie the ability to hit the line, draw a defender and choose when to make the pass.
Looks to have pace to burn, but also greedy and looks like someone trying too hard.
Give Bateman a crack at centre'"
this post deserves to go down in history.

It's threads like this that make me think it's time we had some kind of licensing system before we let people loose with a keyboard.

We all know that Colin 'Wendy' Whitfield was Wigan's greatest centre in living memory.

| People aren't looking much further than Matty Bowen...
To quote Stevo on Backchat "they are calling him cardigan because he isn't a jumper"
I'd say he looks far from match fit and hoping that is true.

The tackle he made on SBW and Jennings were superb, I doubt Sam would have made the one on SBW! He did have a poor game though and made some costly errors but at least give him time to settle in for godsake. He also wasn't the reason we lost tonights game either, 15 errors in the first half are what lost us the game.'"

Sarginson is already the best centre we have at the club. Sorry I don't rate Goulding, Thornley or Gelling.

Did you mention you didn't rate Daz last season when he was putting Josh in for a record number of tries or is this a recent thing?

LSoW has been pretty consistent with his views on Goulding.

Don't shoot the messenger.
There were a few on here last season who didn't think Goulding was as good as others were stating. I'm of the opinion that he's a good solid centre. Not International class and certainly no world beater.
I do think that Sam created a lot for Goulding and Thornley last season by taking focus away from them and creating space. It'll be interesting to see how our centres go this season without Sam.

I agree with your rather more sensible assessment.
