I wonder where some of those scouts will come from?

| Quote: NickyKiss "Proof if it was needed on how hard it is now to build a team from scratch without the ability to import top players from the NRL.
That list is chocked full of has been, crocks, indisciplined players and players with 'issues'.
They might scrape the play offs but this project needs to be long term. They need to do a Huddersfield and sign up good young English players they can develop.'"
I was expecting some major names but as you say its players who have seen better days or players that when push comes to shove have been found wanting. And i include Hock in that. They will push to the play offs next season but as Wire are finding out its impossible to buy a side now and investment in youth policy is of more importance than anything. Morley i regard as a great player who has seen better days but is still a great leader for them. But as with a few names on that list age is against them. Its good that Salford are going to be competitive and i do hope they can progess but the DR needs a youth system not a buying plan.
As apart from Chase and Hock i can not see many players on that list we would take given issues and age. I know we have Hock technically but he is still a class player.

| The only key to future success in super league is youth development. Warrington will be the last club to buy their success as long as the salary cap is so low. Can't see Salford troubling many with those signings. Chase is a good player but he hardly helped castleford become successful or did anything in an England shirt. Hock will be their best signing and that just about says it all.

| Makes me laugh how many coahing experts we have on here, the fact is none of you know how next year will pan out, just like NOBODY thought Hudds would finish top spot this year. next year playoffs will be the general aim for Salford the year after we will want to improve again. we have a decent academy at Salford, and if you listen to Dr Koukash plans you'll see that he plans to have Salford as one of the countries best youth set ups.
other than that theres no point predicting when nodody knows what the future holds.

| I don't see the problem with those signings. No really top class players are going to sign for a club in Salford's position despite whatever money is on offer from Koukash.
Those players will make them miles more competitive than they are now and should get them in the play offs. The key will be to build on that because some of the older players won't last long but I can't see why people are dismissing these signings.
They are exactly what I'd expect a club in Salfords position to make. Things like youth development take time to set up and they aren't going to get top NRL players so what did people expect?

Well yeah, but it wasn't buying players that turned Wire round, it was getting Smith in for Cullen (and Lowes). Their big spending when Moran took over (around 2003, IIRC) didn't work until they sorted the coaching out.

Just spoke to Martin Gleeson he said the signings havnt finished there's 2 more massive signings to be finalized, I tried my best to get him to spill but he said he'd get the sack if he told anyone.

There's something that's never happened before.
You could, of course, look at all this from another point of view. There's been a fair bit of POSITIVE RL publicity on Sky today as a result of this. I presume that Wigan are getting a fee for Hock and Cas will be getting a big fat cheque for Chase. Tim Smith has already been paid for and I don't know if London are getting a fee for the year left on Tommy Lee's contract or not. In addition there should be a big increase in Salford's gates home and away next year and the presence oif all these new players should make the start of next season quite intriguing.
All this brings publicity, and more importantly, money, into the game. A couple more owners like Koukash and the whole thing could get very interesting.

If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.:icons39ad_files/4821-1859san_c-msnicons.jpg |

This is the biggest difference.

Bobby Goulding said the fee was £112k which isnt too bad to be honest.

If Wigan have received a similar size fee for Hock, then its cracking business by IL. What baffles me is why the fees are never officially reported these days.

At least try to be original with your put downs.
And for those that still insist that Salford dont have an academy or produce their own talent they won the U20s Grand Final last night.

I wouldn't shout too loudly about that. They played sides from the Championship.
