| We've always had open meetings. On here and I believe the other site and we have invited fans to come and discuss anything that they are uncomfortable with, or can help us with. We are not a clique, far from it.
So please at next meeting come along and raise your concerns, the more the merrier. But we do need help even if it's only preventing what happened last night happening again.

Surely it isn't a case of you're either with them or against them?'"
I wasn't having a dig at you or anyone, I'm just saying all this probably isn't the most productive way to resolve any issues.
I completely understand what your saying but a 10 page thread starting the way it did, looks to give the group a bad name.
If you want to discuss any issues your probably best contacting one of the members.

I've seen the same S2 black logo on the back of a bus which had been obviously been sprayed on using a template. I hope this is just a one off as we (as a club) don't want to be associated with the moron(s) who are spraying graffiti all over the place

We're not here to protect the brigantes from anyone. It's up to them to fight their own battles and set the record straight regarding this issue and any misconceptions.

| I think the Brigantes do a great job and its clear to see a lot of time and effort has gone into to creating a better atmosphere at home and away games. Its a shame that this one person who clearly isn't attached to the group had brought all this about.
If I was to give constructive feedback (not a criticism) I would forget putting stickers all over the place as this is technically vandalism and gives the Brigantes group a bad rep. Through singing and putting on impressive displays at games, word will get around. Also add in the Youtube group, forum and website it all helps.
I would also drop the cherry and white balaclava that someone is wearing because it looks intimidating and daft, also the Megaphone looks like you are protesting against something and isn't really needed.

An extremist.
I don't think there is anything uneducated about peoples dislike of this term at all. If people attach yourselves with such a tainted term, they should expect their fair share of stick.'"
You may wish to use a well known video sharing site and search for "Tim Minchin - Context". When you take a word out context it is as meaningless as a word without a sentence.
Afterall, is an extremist not someone who has deep passion about something and supports that passion undyingly? You couldn't deny that a religious extremist takes the actions he/she does because of their unequivical passion of their religion, regardless of whether they are right or wrong.
The reputation of the term "Ultra" is precursive, and it's important to note that Football Ultra or European Ultra does not equal the same as Rugby Ultra or Wigan Ultra. Just the same as Extreme Muslim does not equal the same as Extreme Sport.

| Quote: ROBINSON "Sort of, but there was also a thread telling people not to sit near you if they didn't want to sing constantly and jump up and down in favour of actually watching the game.
If a "Don't sit near us" message is not dividing the supporters, then what is?
Sorry, I can't buy into the whole 'Brigantes' thing. We're all Wigan supporters at the end of the day and I'm not being told how I should support them. By all means, sing, dance, wave scarves, provide flags and all the rest of it - it looks fabulous. But I can't help feeling that MORE people would buy in if you didn't put yourselves on some kind pedestal as an 'ultrafan', somehow better than the rest of us, and give yourselves a label.
But maybe that's just me.'"
Pretty much agree with this.
I used to laugh at the "Brigantes" in the sense that they thought they were somehow "better" fans then the majority. It really did amuse me. The only thing "Ultra" about them was that drum which is ultra annoying - If that drum was near me at a game it would be a broken drum by the end, but that's more to do with manners rather than anything else.
However, overall they were/are harmless enough and are free to do enjoy themselves I guess. If the "Brigante" thing becomes an umbrella under which idiots can flourish, then it needs to be addressed.
There is no room for this in RL and especially at Wigan RL.

Can you please explain how you came to that conclusion? I know it's not true.

| Can I just play devil's advocate and ask, is spray painting a logo on a bog wall any worse than plastering it with Brigantes stickers?

| My unimportant two penneth on this is why are people so bothered about criticising this group of people? Smacks of petty attitudes, I won't say jealousy, there really isn't anything to be jealous of. If someone wants to go to the game and graffiti somewhere (and this Brigante group haven't told them to) then you can only blame the individual who actually went through with it. It's like terrorism, you can plan for the group of nutjobs but the one loose-cannon with an agenda is the most dangerous! Real mountain and mole hill scenario this, people need to get a grip and go to the game to enjoy what's on the field.

So you would go and break someones drum? How lovely of you. Is that not worse than singing, waving flags and jumping around? I would say it is. Manners? You are the one wanting to break someone elses drum.
There is no room for one idiot to ruin it for everyone else is what you mean. There is room for a group trying to improve the atmosphere, it has already been proven.
Then again you could find some negativity in world peace.

Not in my eyes. But I suppose the stickers are easier to remove.

I'm pleased to hear that as, I'm sure you know as well as me that it's absolute tripe.
I have heard it implied though, admitedly by some of the "younger" people i.e. kids

| Orrell Lad, of course you're right to ask that question.
Whilst both can be seen as a type of vandalism, many companies do use sticker campaigns to advertise themselves, stickers are very simple to clean, sliding off with relative ease using alcohol based solvents, and these can be removed from all surfaces. Spray Paint, on the other hand is undeniably not common place advertising, and does not clean of surfaces without a considerable amount of chemical and physical intervention. There are some surfaces (i.e. Concrete) which spray paint will not come off full stop.
