| Why did you hate them? Is it because they're world class talents and were you jealous?

one day you might understand. Once you have some history, grow in stature and a rivalry with another local large team.

| Pickavance - utter knob.
But Chris Smith, not just when he played for Stains, but he was the slyest coward I ever saw. If you were small and on the ground, he'd have a go, but run off quickly after a few kicks or punches.

Next thing you'll be saying it wasn't a voluntary tackle.

How did he manage to do all that when he was asleep?

Would lash out everytime he was tackled, throw punches but would hide behind the big boys when it got tasty.......and he was $hite!'"
So true, 'orrible niggly little barsteward he was. Imagine him scrapping with Paul Bishop
The biggest villains for me were Hunte, Martyn and Nickle in that order. All probably great blokes off the field, but proper "St Helens" on it

| Biggest Stains bad guy of all time has to be Agent Millward! The pig ruined our club and I genuinely despise him.

That, and Long's 'dreadlocks'............................................
p.s.. when I think of Tommy Martyn I always imagine him with big gold 'gypsy' earring's, selling lucky heather !!!!!!!

| There’s not a whole heap of love in this thread! Anyway, for those of you who chose Sonny Knuckle, I’d like to point out that he was also capable of some genuine moments of rare comedy on the pitch. I remember once when Saints were playing Warrington and Bruce McGuire roughed him up a bit in the tackle. Sonny got up and threw the ball in McGuire’s face. Three seconds later he was having a snooze on the grass. Priceless.
